(Cont) 2:3 “Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever screams at us the loudest.”
Andor Season 2, Ep9 Welcome to the Rebellion, part of Senator Mothma’s speech to the Imperal Senate warning of danger in the face of genocide:
“I stand this morning with a difficult message. I believe we are in crisis. The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. 1:3
We need some rat fumigating at the top. Do you remember when Republicans were all about states rights? This was before they got their agent of chaos installed at the top. Now the tune has changed to domination of the states. Specifically breaking the law to interfere with and turn elections to their favor when they know in our democratic system, they are no longer electable.

2:2 My take frequently stated, this is the capitalist endgame. We must come to terms with how wealth is distributed in our system and how much wealth individuals are allowed to accrue at the expense of others. We must move away from ‘for profit’ and prioritize the basics of a stable society- housing, health, education, environment, a good experience for a super majority.
This is not today’s GOP, in on the heist of democracy for $$$ just for themselves. Their dummies are blind to the program.
MSNow Roundtable- Elections are cyclical, voters in the US may come back to the Dems on this cycle cause they’re angry at Rump, but the bottom line is that the swing back-and-forth between parties in election cycles is because the capitalust system is not working for the people and if we can’t fix it, there will be more and more who want to burn it down and start over from scratch.
It takes a movement, competent leadership, and energized involved citizens to energetically demand change. 1:2
Andor (2022-2025)- Including the original SWs trilogy (Episodes 4,5,6), Andor and Rogue One (2016) are the quintessential Star Wars watched in SWs chronology order. I usually skip Episodes 1,2,3 as unworthy and take their word that Anakin Skywalker was just a Jedi who lost his way. 😉🙃 Andor, written by Tony Gilmore is especially powerful. He is the kind of writer Disney desperately needed for Episodes 7,8,9, but alas ‘‘twas not to be.

#NewRule- Drink no more than 1 Celsius at a time, maybe per 24hr unless you want your head buzzing on you…🤔
Ready Player One (2018)- Outstanding mixed action, animation sci-fi story. It’s about a contest, a search for the keys to the kingdom of an online virtual reality space set in a near distance, dismal future.
I’ve not read the book, heard it has more depth, more complex, and is a darker story. Worth reading?

The Hunger Games (2012-2015) HG, Girl on Fire, Mockingjay 1&2- Good story, characters, the story focuses on Katness Everdeen and her evolution from tribute to leader of the revolution. For myself, the weakness of the story is you have to take the author’s word that the Districts are able to prevail in this story.

They Live (1988)- John Carpenter directed this underrated sci-fi B movie about a drifter who discovers a box of sunglasses, that when worn, reveals the world as it really is. A quirky, not great allegorical story that could easily apply to today’s politics and commercialism. Guess who Trump, the $Bs, and the MAGOTs would be in this story? 😐

2:2… but it is great, emotionally moving fiction. This time, I skipped all 3 executions by electric chair. I just didn’t want to watch it. A great cast, I judge this to be Sam Rockwell’s best performance as Wild Bill.
King had a great string of horror novels, but later in my reads, I started noticing the method of how he wrote, how characters talked and got fatigued with his narrative in general. I honestly can’t remember if I read these 2 books mentioned.
The Green Mile (1999)- I regard this and Shawshank Redemption as King’s best work, because they focus on human relationships, not horror. The Green Mile, the healing ability of John Coffey, and a prison guard who fears for his soul if he is involved with the killing of one of “God’s miracles”, the play of good vs evil, overall the story impresses the hell out of me, not that I believe in God in such a Christian framework, (cont) 1:2

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)- Wonderful screen adaption of the Stephen King Novel, about the journey of a man wrongly convicted of murder and sent to prison for 2 life sentences, where he finds redemption in the Bible. Lol, only kinda of, it’s where he keeps an important item that plays a major role in his future.
“You know, the funny thing is, on the inside I was an honest man, straight as an arrow. I had to go to prison to be a crook.”
5:5 Binged 5 more episodes (a total of 8) of Carrie (Amazon Prime 2026) today to finish this. It was great, greater than the movie, a more complex story that introduces gifted people into the equation. Story, direction, acting, characters and pacing were perfect. It left me yearning for another season, but my understanding this was all there is. The show is listed as ended. 😕
4:4 There’s also added depth as compared to the original movie in that the antagonist in the story is facing a personal crisis in her life which compels her to act in a malevolent manner, which I just don’t remember that in the movie where there it was just being mean to be mean. I don’t classify this as horror as much as a social study, science fiction, telekinesis story. Carrie, 2026 Amazon limited series.
2:4 It’s written by Mike Flanagan, who also wrote Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House, both are excellent. So far, this is pretty wonderful in comparison to the original movie, which seems now to have a pointed Stephen King atmosphere, but it’s been so long since I’ve read the book, I’m not 100% sure about that. The movie has a very distinct vibe that I don’t like and this version is a modern updated telling that feels good to me.
3:4 Summer Howell and Samantha Sloyan are really good. I like the Carrie character, her ability to emerge from a completely sheltered, suppressed, caustic environment. I’m rooting for her, even though I know the ending is gonna be horrific. The way the story is told it leaves no doubt because it starts with interviews with survivors of a holocaust that destroys most of the town. Having not yet seen the end I would already classify this superior to the original movie.
Carrie (2026 Amazon limited series) I was hesitant to start this, but to prepare myself I cranked up the original movie, got about 10 minutes into it and said “I’ve seen all this already”, and fast forwarded to the last 30 minutes for the final. Then I started the series, for me I binge watched the first 3 episodes which is unusual and I was drawn to this version of the story immediately. (Cont) 1:4

You could easily argue. We deserve to have bad things happen to us at this rate. Yeah I mean, we may turn it around, but how the hell did it ever get this far? It’s long past time for some serious introspection at what’s wrong with us. Then we might look at the planet and ask what’s wrong with our species? It’s gotten so ridiculous, you might start thinking you’re living in a simulation with a purpose, having a set course and agenda. No clue, so don’t ask me… 😉🤔 3:3
