The moral of this story is you gotta be famous to be rich.
Hello Camilla. I have another question and I hope you don't mind. The FCC model proposes that women took the initiative in controlling access to their sexuality in order to produce men who would play a full part in child care rather than being those who got their fun but took no responsibility. In doing so, they politically altered the shape of their communities. I think the idea has much to recommend it and you and your colleagues have done great work explaining it more fully and fleshing out the idea (not least in terms of human origins).
But I wonder, in casting the "alpha males" looking for casual, low cost sex as the bad guys is this also some kind of moral argument? It lauds the stable over the random and the long-term over the casual. I have no criticism of the historical hypothesis or the social and political consequences it can be said to bring. I just find it convenient to a certain morality. So my question would be if its imagined a matter of morality for those involved in the historical process when it is presented as functional? (They wanted men who would help bring up their children.) And, if so, is it being said that this morality was required for FCC to work across the board? Are some of our ancestors products of non-FCC communities or is this THE conduit from the past to us?
Any light you can shed will be gratefully received.
@RadicalAnthro Hi Camilla. I have a basic question I would appreciate your professional opinion on if you would be so kind.
Anthropologically speaking, is a human being an animal? (Feel free to reference any appropriate literature if some obviously comes to mind.)
WALKING
On my walk this morning I saw a discarded cigarette packet on the ground with the medical warning upwards.
"SMOKERS DIE YOUNGER" it read.
And I wondered: are they trying to put me off smoking or encouraging me to take it up?
Good morning from somewhere in Wales 🏴
WE ARE BORN INTO A RACIST SOCIETY
Being stirred to thought by the recent case of Jason Arday, hounded by racists until he apparently killed himself, I dug out an essay of mine on the history of racism in the West that I first wrote five years ago and updated it. I present this to you now. Its a decent read but by the end you'll realise that the racists are both evil and organised. Hopefully that helps you understand there are people we must fight.

THE REALITY OF RACISM
"Over the past 500 years, we have been taught by an informal, mutually reinforcing consortium of intellectuals, politicians, statesmen, business and economic leaders, and their books that human racial biology is real and that certain races are biologically better than others. These teachings have led to major injustices to Jews and non-Christians during the Spanish Inquisition; to blacks, Native Americans, and others during colonial times; to African Americans during slavery and reconstruction; to Jews and other Europeans during the reign of the Nazis in Germany; and to groups from Latin America and the Middle East, among others, during modern political times.”
(Robert Sussmann - "The Myth of Race")
JASON ARDAY
It seems clear, having done a little research, that Arday was targeted, hunted even, by a shady bunch of half in/half out of the closet racists that operate in a network of organisations (some openly racist and some posing as other things) funded by rich white men like Peter Thiel whose ultimate game plan is to control society outside of even the remit of the fairly crappy governments we have.
This should not be surprising to the student of history. About 5 years ago I myself wrote an essay about the racism and eugenics movement in America and the broader West at the beginning of the 20th century. These people inspired Hitler (who had no one to stop him whereas those in other countries did) and what he did gave racism and eugenics a bad name. And so it went into hiding for a while.
BUT THESE PEOPLE NEVER WENT AWAY ENTIRELY. Now we can see them all crawling out from under their rocks, emboldened by a new rise of the right funded by billionaires. These people are authoritarians convinced of truths they made up for themselves in bubbles of their own making. They hate experts, they hate compassion and they hate diversity. They simply want to create a world in their image and under their exclusive control. They are not democrats but tyrants. Hence the cultural war.
But it becomes more than this when such people gain any real power. And people start to die. Black people. Gay people. Trans people. Immigrant people. Female people. Resisting people.
This is not a game. Real lives are at stake and real resistance to the evils of racism and white supremacy and fascism must take place.
Before we start waking up with some of us in camps. In some places, they already are.
FILM REVIEW
Watched The Odyssey. Nolan has fucked up the story which pisses me off.
Film bored me.
I first read The Odyssey when I was ten (which is many moons ago). The story I remember was much better than this rather dowdy and dour tale. The Odyssey contains humour. Nolan's version contains none.
I suspect that since its Nolan and its cost 250 million no one will criticise it because of peer pressure but its 5/10 at best.
I'm sure I'll never need to watch it again. Much rather watch Jason and the Argonauts.
UK POLITICS
It should not be lost on any UK voter that the reason Farage ever chose Clacton (and many similar places before it) is because he thought it was full of gullible old racists with a grudge against people they do not identify with.
NEWLY PUBLISHED BOOK TO READ
My latest book - THE WILD - takes the view that "anarchy", often extrapolated in and through the historical, socially-derived politics of anarchism, should instead be characterized on a naturalistic and queer basis as "the wild" (in much the same way as Kropotkin observed nature and came up with the principle of "mutual aid" in fact).
Through thirteen chapters this idea is then teased out, explained and extrapolated as something both ethical and political that is contrary to patriarchal, capitalist, industrial and technological human civilization as it has developed.
As such, this book is both a call to the wild (and to the truth and reality of the wild) and to the assertion that in feralness there is an authenticity of the mutual co-existence of all things to be found.
The book can be downloaded FOR FREE from the link below in multiple formats or read online. It can also be read to you via text to speech on that page.

CONGRATULATIONS
You lived long enough to live in a time and place where this is no longer satire.
DIVERSITY
A "war on diversity" is literally a war on life.
Read any book about life (biology, ecology, etc). There you will learn that all life systems that lack diversity simply die. No ifs. No buts. NOTHING stands alone.
CAPITALISM
Capitalism is a wealth extraction scheme not a wealth distribution scheme... just in case you hadn't realised.
BOOK TO READ
"A Merry Life and A Short One" is my collection of writings about pirates as examples of anarchists. It consequently sets out to discuss and describe both pirates and anarchy for the general reader in order to make relevant connections between them. I think its the best thing I have ever written but that's probably up to the reader to decide. Recommended for anyone who wants to think about pirates or anarchy and their consequences or how to fight back against oppressive politics.

UKGOV: We are going to ban kids from social media.
PUBLIC: And what if they get around it? Will you punish them?
UKGOV: Nah.
PUBLIC: So its meaningless posturing then.
UKGOV:
PUBLIC: Why, instead of picking on kids, don;t you tackle the ADULTS who run companies that traffic in harmful content?
UKGOV:
PUBLIC: Weak, cowardly bastards the lot of them.
REALISATION
It is a strange feeling when you finally realise that the stuff of the world, generally speaking, "belongs" to a company or billionaire no more or less than it does to you or I.
What is today called "ownership" or "property" is little more than theft or acquisition with menaces that either can or cannot be backed up with violence.
No one actually owns anything and property is a totally made up concept.
