It's especially worth noting that in many countries those laws are unconstitional and noncompliance therefore has a rock solid legal argument (they know this and will mostly performatively go after corposcum as a result).

I often feel bemused and annoyed by little stories presenting technophobic settings as idyllic and preferable.

Without magic of some sort picking up the slack, it just makes it clear the author is healthy, not disabled in any way and hasn't yet had to deal with their flesh betraying them.

(Note that it's quite possible to use such a setting explicitly for the purpose of poking at these problems. That is not the presentation I am talking about.)

Stagnancy with no hope of any help for my issues and less or no escapism doesn't much sound attractive to me. It sounds worse than what I have.

Does ffmpeg support some manner of shared memory decoding that would make it usable with a subprocess with no IO capabilities/permissions but that which is passed directly by its parent?

Or at least, does it allow for incremental decoding & writing individual frames and audio samples to arbitrary buffers?

I'm essentially wondering how one would go about making a player that can be trusted with arbitrary third-party data that is explicitly untrustworthy (clearly hardware decoding would be disabled too).
