Labour's Sepuloni needs to be much more confident, and Labour needs to sell taxes, by explaining the nuances. That most people are not going to pay more. The number of taxes isn't the issue. It's the amount that people pay in aggregate. I think Labour is wimping out of its opportunity.

The wind's picking up, if anything. And, of course, the rubbish truck drivers take extra long to do their rounds because they're having to stand up all the bins, so the bins are blown around even more. Vicious circle. If it wasn't so petty and absurd, I'd be tempted to believe this is evidence of a recycling and rubbish-collection-hating deity.

The wind here today is crazy. And it happens every frickin' Tuesday, which is our bin day, and all the frickin' bins blow over and all the recycling or rubbish blows into all the yards and into the streams. Our bins are entirely unfit for purpose with a rapidly changing climate. It stresses me out. Already been outside several times to pick up as much of the stuff as I can from my neighbours' bins (we've got aftermarket rubber catches on ours so they don't pop open and blow over). Diabolical.

Weird-but-cool... just saw a strange display from a harrier over the wetland reserve across the road - it was swooping around round, even doing a sequence of stalls, dives, rolls, and a loop! Started off maybe 50 m in the air and then gradually worked its way lower, eventually landing (I think) where I couldn't see it any more... mating display? Something else? Ever seen anything like that @joncounts?

If anyone knows of any corroborating reporting (8 years ago now) in places other than the NZ Herald, please let me know! Seems that this is relevant to a lot of things...
