What i'm really excited about in the short term future is implementing support for the origin private filesystem.

What I think I'm going to do is keep the C: drive working as-is, but a VHD for drive D: will be created for you in the OPFS if it doesn't exist.

This drive will persist between sessions.. Install whatever you want. Put Turbo C on there and code retro games in your browser. I think it will be cool.

The front end now also picks the most appropriate shader preset for the video card you select.

So if you pick Hercules, you'll get an amber screen. If you choose VGA, you won't get unrealistic barrel distortion.

It's going to be pretty repetitive if I post every time I add an improvement to https://martypc.net , because i'm unemployed currently and have nothing else to do but push new features every day.

but this is a total transformation.

the new carousel interface is now live.
you can now select VGA and Adlib cards on PC.
you can plug in a gamepad and play Commander Keen in EGA.
it's like a real actual emulator now

this is what it looked like in Golden Axe. You'd use the joystick to select your desired fighter, and the three of them would rotate like they were on a lasy susan. the inactive characters get scaled and darkened in the background.

So I'm going to have a File Transfers interface.

I'll add a third drop target, to send files to the File Transfer queue.

Then you'll be able to use my mrecv utility to transfer those pending files to disk in DOS.

I'm going to also let you drag & drop files to the hard drive.

Now, how am I going to do that?

Drag & Drop functionality is not entirely consistent cross-platform.

On most operating systems, a drag & drop event gives you paths, then you go open the files that were dropped.

On the web, you get the actual raw bytes of the file data, because the browser has no access to the filesystem so paths would be kinda useless.

Can I also just say how much I love Aseprite?

I've been doing pixel art for years in just Photoshop but I'm kicking myself because Aseprite is so much better.

When you drag a disk image into MartyPC 0.4.2, you'll get drop targets to let you choose what drive you want to mount the disk into.

I thought it would be fun to show the actual physical floppy type in pixel art in these boxes. Makes it a bit more visually clear.
