I'm tired of people who pretend that technology is magic.

Technology is magic, but not in the way you think. It is magic when: it is explainable, teachable, usable.

Technology that excludes people, technology that elevates self-professed magicians so they can gatekeep, technology that is sold to others as magic for the sake of selling magic tricks is the world we live in today.

Technology brings me joy, and it saddens me that the technology business today steals it.

Somehow, my wife speaks Malay to our American cat and used to speak French to our Malaysian dog. She said it just felt like the right languages for both of them

Language diffusion at our home (in-laws and wife’s sibling are visiting) has reached the level where when someone asks a question in French or Malay I randomly answer (correctly) without thinking about which language (I do not speak French)

Sometimes when I play post-apocalyptic games I think about how I’m glad I know so many people on Mastodon. You’ll all be the ham radio operators. And hardware scrappers. And food growers. And canners.
