> The Government will bring forward legislation to require employers to include salary information on job adverts as soon as possible, with further details on scope, required information, implementation, and enforcement to be set out in due course.
Excellent idea, and I will be interested to see how wide a band can be.

Well done Samsung 🤨
They’re withdrawing #SmartThings API access with only 30 days notice unless I move to a $4.99pcm developer account.
So it looks like I’ll lose access to my Samsung devices in #homeAssistant 😒
There’s an integration called “localthings”, but it doesn’t support media devices like TVs and speakers:
It is quite amazing what one can achieve, just by putting one's mind to it.
Wishing all you lovely people - and babe - a happy Friday.
Vetoed on the grounds of "broken ankles".
A few of us are chatting about playing a night time Airsoft game.
In some *very* dark woods, where there is no artificial light (or electricity).
The current consensus is that a LARP-y melee weapons only game, no night vision / thermal allowed, would work.
It would be *terrifying* and fun.
I say that but, actually, more cis het men raging about consent is perhaps no bad thing.
Sorry, preaching to choir here, I know.
It doesn't matter that you've had sex with them before.
It doesn't matter that they came back to your place.
It doesn't matter that they agreed to something else.
It doesn't matter how they are dressed.
It doesn't matter that they previously agreed to that specific thing.
It doesn't matter that you were in the midst of something consensual if they then changed their mind.
It doesn't matter that their "no" isn't forceful or violent or accompanied by them leaving.
Clear, enthusiastic, ongoing consent is both sexy and vital.
I fear that there will be some *dreadful* takes on consent (elsewhere) following Brand's conviction.
@brunogirin I’m guessing you saw this linked post? https://blog.infected.systems/posts/2025-10-14-the-five-megabyte-nas/
Goes into much more detail about how I use SSHFS so worth pointing out just in case you hadn’t seen it :neocat_cool_fingerguns:
FFS(SH).
I have just realised that, when I see someone tooting here about software that they have developed, it is very rare that it is not FOSS.
That proprietary software is - for me and my feed - the exception, rather than the rule.
The banging has already started here, and I expect it to continue for most of the evening.
Also, fireworks.
I have quite a lot of work on at the moment.
That is both good and also not good.
I've a feeling that I'm going to have to say no to any more pro bono work for a while, I'm afraid. Sorry :(
# "In the UK, Face Sitting Porn Might Land You in Jail"
An excellent write up by @samleecole, of the Crime and Policing Act. I've had quite a few questions about this, from people engaging in risk aware, consensual activity.
Contains sexual themes, obviously.

# "I deleted all my SSH keys"
This is a great blogpost, by @alexhaydock.
I've been experimenting with hardware-resident keys recently, but I've stumbled with support for Android.

@dalias @Edent Your question presupposes a premise I don't agree with.
I think it's well established that a massive increase in aggressive scraping is causing serious infrastructure problems.
From the perspective of someone running a website that is buckling under load, blocking implausibly old user agent strings is extremely appealing. It's extremely cheap to implement, gets rid of a lot of bot traffic, and results in miniscule collateral blocking.
This is not like IE. Browsers automatically update frequently now, and this makes old ones stick out. Many people running bots do not regularly update their UA strings.
Regarding fingerprinting, this is a nuanced topic, but for the narrow purpose of "is this a browser or a scraper pretending to be one (badly)", no, I don't think it's a problem that it's possible to do that.
Also, if someone were actually implementing a browser whitelist, I would agree with you that they're assholes. There's a difference between blocking anything unrecognized and blocking things recognized as sus.
Friends, I am planning to be in LONDON from mid-March to mid-April 2027, a rare opportunity to get me far from my sunny home :). I am looking for something in particular: I have some space between existing work, and I'd love to visit an engineering org or team that wants to hear about the Psychology of Software Teams. This could be an internal keynote, or a fireside chat about the book; my publisher and I are more than happy to do book bundles for events. Reach out if this is for you!
