@FediTips hi. I think I recently saw a link to a site that helps pick an instance *by area of interest*. Or was I dreaming? Help please 🙏.

I just gave some cash to The Tyee and The Maple, two Canadian independent news orgs I value. They're concerned the impending changes to Google search will kill traffic to their sites. :-(

If you can, please support your fav independent investigative journalism sites!

"A new era of book clubs is reshaping how we read.

… Gen Z & millennials are … expanding beyond the “wine-&-gossip” model to better fit their lives, values & energy levels.

[ex:] "… the silent book club: members gather in public spaces (libraries, cafés) to read their own books quietly. After ~1 hour, readers may choose to socialize with the others or leave. … these now span 60 countries with > 2,000 chapters worldwide."

Also: digital book clubs.

A wish:

Because I have followers in multiple time zones (and also, I tend to toot in the middle of the night) I wish we had a "scheduled boost" feature, to add a time delay.

Just like a "scheduled toot" - or is that just a client-side feature I have on my android @moshidon app ? Not sure.

A warning from our future (or is it our past?)

"They found it's a trap, like a narcotic. Because, when dreams become more important than reality, you give up travel, building, creating. You even forget how to repair the machines left behind by your ancestors. You just sit, living and reliving other lives."

The #amphifa squad's choreography to the tune of …

War. Huh - lookout.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!

This week I learned, from a blind acquaintance here, that when we write in ALL CAPS in alt text, their screenreader* reads it all out, *one letter at a time*.

Totally defeating the point of alt text making things accessible, right?
Needless to say, I've stopped.

Well, LOL remains LOL, of course!

* apparently, not all screenreaders.
