Just recalled a pretty cool experience I had when I was maybe 12 or so.
Family took my brother and I camping. The campground had a little mini-library. I, being a voracious reader, started on a book but didn't have time to finish it. The campground staff said no worries, just take the book with you and mail it back when you're done. Cleared it with parents, took the book home, finished it, they mailed it back for me (protip: USPS media mail is dirt cheap if you ever need to mail a book).
On the last few (blank) pages of the book, someone had written their name and their home state (presumably when they mailed the book back). About a dozen other people had done the same. I was *thrilled* to add my name and state to that page before we mailed it back, and it was fascinating to see all the people who had read this book before me.
Anyway, if I ever set up a mini library, I'd try to encourage the same behavior (maybe a little insert taped to the inside of the cover).
