This toot should go into the anthropic IPO briefing as the actualization of their business model. Everyone having to spent their own tokens on the (roughly) same (probably incomplete) fix is a wet dream for those who hate commons and collectivism.

This is the last stop before "why do we need maintainers and security releases anyway? We just fork our own php"

THE project for the commons bragging about it is nothing but tragic though.

Tailors are magicians. I request to add a bottle holder and a trolley handle strap to a backpack, and a week later and for very little money, my backpack has a bottle holder and a strap conjured to it. Even obscure requests, such as "add this number lock to this cue case" are manifested with craftsmanship and attention to detail. I'm in awe

With all the supply-chain attacks going on, we sat down and condensed our advise into notes we publish in the following weeks. We'll start with dependency management, when to update what and how to disable default insecure behavior in common tooling like VSCode or npm. https://crftd.tech/blog/2026-05-30-notes-on-safer-development/

Days since I was last pitched a shop solution that uses floats to store amounts of money: 0

I suspect most people outside of the UK won't have heard about the post office scandal, but it seems highly relevant to learn about now (given *waves* this):

For over 15 years, the software post offices in the UK had to use contained severe bugs, particular in accounting, that everyone at Fujitsu/horizon and the post blissfully ignored. Over 900 (!!!) postmasters were sentenced for alleged theft and fraud, some went to jail, some committed suicide. All because the software was shit and everyone who could do something about it didn't care and swept it under the rug.

Everything, including how it was uncovered, about this seems bizarre and Kafkaesque, but we better prepare for it to happen more often.
