A fabulous, brand new Speccy game from my old pal Juan. Zero AI involvement, give it some love, everyone! https://www.usebox.net/jjm/outpost/

Game's name will be "Retinal Ghost" and I think I found gameplay core feature.

Retinal Ghost is some sort of turn based platformer. As long as player don't move, nothing move, (rogue-like). Moves are fixed on the text mode grid so no real time skills are required, only good placement.

Running, jumping, falling or waiting make time pass but moves are limited and player must grab items to restore its energy.

Excites.

(Sort of. A bit.)

The first #postcart exhibition is happening next month at @picopicocafe! If you'd like to join, submit a #pico8 postcart (300 chars) before 2026-11-15: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/superblog.php?mode=gifs&cat=0&postcarts=1

Each program will become a printed card that visitors can insert into a viewing machine to run it.

This halloween season, do you dare go on... the scareoplane (it's a scary plane)

A critical flaw has been found in the color Arylide yellow. All artists need to immediately update their paintings.

I’ve no doubt you could get AI to shit out something that does everything Retrospecs does in minutes, but would it contain bugs of this vintage? I don’t think so.

🤔

apparently if you get a bar of chocolate and it has a whitish coating or blotches on the surface, that's called "bloom", and it's a sign that the chocolate was produced in the late 00s by a major video game developer

Reminder to app/game devs: I’m writing a piece next week on apps/games for iPhone Duo. If you’ve updated your app/game for Apple’s fold-o-phone, drop me a line. Doubly so if whatever you’ve done goes beyond a two-col iPad-style layout and is therefore different from what’s gone before*.

Also: images. I need images. So if you email me, do also send or link to images. (Images!)

* Which isn’t to say such apps won’t be included, note!

Christ… there's going to be about 120 new strings in Retrospecs v4. 🫩

I need to think about crowdsourcing the translations or similar, as I can't in good faith ask the translators who very kindly previously contributed to take on such a task.

Alternatively, I could just massively increase the price.

I’d only need to sell a single copy then. 🧐

Retrospecs v4 will almost certainly be the last major release, and these days it generates very little revenue - in the main because I don’t have the time or indeed inclination to market it anymore.

As such, I’m pondering doing something quite stupid, and simply making the full functionality available for free, and moving the tip jar to the first item in Settings.

Probably a stupid idea, but I’m considering it nonetheless.

🤔

Brundle: (putting too much sugar in coffee) haven't they got anything lumpier
