Forgot I had this video of it.
ESD-Bags sparking against the table they're lying on due to the high electric field / charges being sprayed off

Hi from thermal vision ^^
The pinout of this thermal core and the documentation I found was wrong - but fortunately it was just 8bit parallel video (BT.656) on the same few pins as would've been 4 diff. Pairs on the other variant
(Tang nano 9k FPGA converts BT.656 to HDMI here)

finally got around to using the university laser cutter

Ok, here is what I have so far.
I'm certain on the Eu152 (blue) and Cs134 (green). That red summing peak threw me off at first, but I took another spectrum with the rocks a bit further away from the detector and it got way smaller, confirming it is a summing peak.
The purple x-ray peak miiiiiiiiiight indicate Ba-133, but I really wouldn't bet on it.
That could explain why the centroid around 350 keV is slightly off from the Eu152 peak.

Damn I really need to get my HPGe back up and running.

threeHUNDRED FUCKING counts per second!

So, for context.
These are Topaz, of the "London Blue" variety.
Carl Willis has explained this better than I ever can, but his reaction at 5:10 sums it up pretty well.

I have found something that has made me very, veeeery happy.

Don't happen to have any expert electron microscopists reading this who could stand to answer a couple of questions?

Oh god now I have to implement a PID on this.

How the fuck do I find the parameters... I am tempted to do Ziegler Nichols, but I'm also scared of this thing oscillating at some tens to over 100 kV lol

Do I know anyone in #Canberra with the ability to read both 3.5" and 5.25" floppy disks? There's an old game in my collection I need bit-for-bit disk images of for research purposes. Can shout you a coffee for your time.

Edit: many thanks for the boosts everyone, I've got something lined up now
