Mastodon has no algorithm, right? Wrong! Mastodon does. The algorithm is chronological ordering. If you do not have the time to read everything this means statistically you mainly get to see those accounts that post a lot of stuff. The precious ones that post little but that you really want to see you miss most likely. Hence, would it not be better if one would allow a variety of algorithms that the user can control? Why not federated algorithms? I choose the algorithm that fits me. #fediverse

I read mastodon polls are mostly done by people who don't understand selection bias and how boosting by the precise group whose membership they try to survey will massively affect the outcome.
(I wish mastodon had no polls; a single multiple-choice never allows for control, and thus almost never yields a useful statistic.)

Hey, I want to switch a handful of low power 220V devices and analog signals from a PC, via USB or serial. For testing/automation.

Is there a sensible standard? Not too keen on implementing VISA/USBTMC (these are just not very good, imho), but before I invent an insular solution, I'd go with that.

@funkylab they have not. APRS was wildly under-modeled and based mostly on the gut of Bob Bruninga, who was not good at protocol design, so the bar is pretty low to start with.

The freaking impressive thing is that a microphone designed as lavalier mic can be used in a situation where the fuzzy windscreen is fully justified by the rapid motion of the hand holding the mic, which was meant to be statically fixed to the collar of the speaker.
That this functions without WILD fluctuations in volume is a testament to analog and digital signal design.

(Also, come on, podcasters, stop abusing lapel mics like that. This looked cool, only to LinkedIn, and only in 2014.)

- most impactful for SDR community and
- most creative.

An RFNoC block is a module on an AXI4S data bus with separate settings interface in a "shell" making interacting with the rest of the system easier, to be deployed in the FPGA of SDR devices.
Not hard to write.
