This movie starts with one of those horny jazzy swingy type soundtracks. We then we get an opening narration by Miss Cornelia, a woman with a hat who lives in a big model house. We meet her and her maid in her drawing room, where the maid, whose name is "Lizzy" and who wears a different hat. Lizzy tells Miss Cornelia and the audience that this town is full of murders and bats.
Launching my #monsterdon thread for "The Bat" (1959), a movie starring Vincent Price and/or a bat!
Monsterdon is the thing where we watch an old monster movie each week and make fun of it. Sometimes, the movies are good, other times they are extremely bad. As is tradition, I will be summarizing the movie poorly.
If you don't want to see all the monsterdon posts by me and others, please mute the hash tag now for your enjoyment. Otherwise, enjoy the bats!
This movie starts with a black void, then with a scream and then with floating heads telling stuff. The first head tells us that stuff will happen and it will be scary. The second head is Vincent Price and he explains who all the characters are, naturally I missed most of this explanation and will mix up all the characters later.
Anyway, they are all arriving at a fancy house for a party and I guess if they survive the night in the scary house they all make a lot of money.
Launching my #monsterdon thread for House on Haunted Hill (1959), a movie with Vincent Price and a haunted house. As is tradition I will be summarizing the movie badly with multiple errors.
Monsterdon is the thing where we watch a monster movie every week and make fun of it; sometimes the movies are good other times they are... less good. Mute the hash tag to avoid seeing all the posts about it.
hi mastodon, how often do you think about autogyros?
This movie begins with stock footage of outer space and a narrator saying something about human progress that is ultimately unimportant. It then progresses to pictures of clocks doing their clock things to orchestra music. Like it starts with a sundial and then progresses to increasingly baroque timekeeping devices.
The final timekeeping gadget is a pocket watch and then we decide to stop looking at clocks and start looking at a helicopter.
Launching my #monsterdon thread for "Journey to the Center of Time" a movie that involves time travel shenanigans.

#Monsterdon movies often share similar settings, so this hypothetical video game could group some of the worlds into archetypes. For example...
Showa Tokyo (Kaiju battles mandatory)
Eastern European Vampire Village (with plentiful Peter Cushings)
1950s America (the level is in black and white, probably menaced by a slime monster from space)
Sleepy English Village with Pub and Complex Villager Drama
Canadian-coded remote forest town
Retrofuturist Space Opera that is Not Star Wars (TM)
Video game idea: Kingdom Hearts, but the worlds you visit are inspired by #monsterdon movies instead of Disney properties.
Instead of Goofy and Donald, the main character's sidekicks are the Devil Girl From Mars and a (miniaturized) Godzilla. Mini-Godzilla's quest is to get big again, Devil Girl is just there for the boys.
Each level you have to figure out how to neutralize the monster, so it could be an action/puzzle game.
Note: I have not (and will not) play the actual Kingdom Hearts.
what if you did a bad thing, and then felt bad about it and then your friends who did bad things too all died and you felt bad about that too?
hi mastodon, where do I find collections of #midi files in 2026?
This movie takes place in the future. The world is a desert and the water is controlled by... some dystopian thing. It takes place in an orphanage. Everyone rollerblades everywhere.
We start and there's a kid sneaking into an abandoned rust factory to watch a roller hockey game; a spider scares him. He wears a rainbow bicycle helmet so I will call him Rainbow Hat.
This is my thread for today's #monsterdon, where we are watching #SolarBabies, whatever that is.
Monsterdon is the thing where we watch an old monster movie every week and make fun of it, as is tradition I will be inaccurately summarizing the film. Consider muting the hash tag if you don't want to see a lot of posts about it.
Yes, I'm asking because I'm not sure if "slightly better chance at getting a job, maybe" is worth outing myself to an unknown number of data brokers.
I also realize that the right answer depends a lot on context - like where you live, whether you're trans or a non-straight cis person, what ethnicity you are and what job you're applying for. Please reply if you have illuminating context-related thoughts.
Suppose you are queer and applying for a job. The job application asks if you are part of the LGBT+ community, along with other optional demographic questions, and says that it is asking these questions because the company uses inclusive hiring practices.
Would you feel comfortable identifying yourself as LGBT+ in this context?
Boosts welcome.

Tonight's #monsterdon starts with a diner cook playing pinball obsessively, when his customer a priest, comes to bother him asking him to call the police. Then the phone explodes, killing the cook, and the coffee also explodes. Then the priest wanders outside.
I don't know if it will persist, but so far you have my interest.
Luanching my #monsterdon thread for "End of the World", a movie whose title matches my general mood at most times.

This #monsterdon starts with some nice hills, and then there's some dudes with construction helmets exploring a cave, which is very fantasy table-top role playing game. Their leader is the Professor and he is following instructions from somebody called the Doctor.
Eventually we find a giant cavern with some dino looking bones all around it and also an alien skeleton and also a giant bridge that needs a safety railing but doesn't have it.
Launching my #monsterdon thread for Reptilian, which I think is a movie where a giant monster who is legally distinct from godzilla wrecks some shit.
