The focus of the work on "Spirit of the Camp" today was on late scenes and end material, but it will help with scenes in the long demo.
It was easier to use the swimming sprite and the preview for testing.

Good progress today with character sprites, especially with animating one in the side profile.
The lesson learned is that "align" instruction doesn't work with Ren'Py (4.7) code for its integrated side system to transform a sprite in that area, but "offset" does.
In simpler terms: Ash can swim when he's talking in NVL mode. Yay!
Another success: I figured out how to suppress the fullscreen NVL mode in "Spirit of the Camp" to create a preview of "Latch".
if you could play an rpg with naturalistically simulated (though maybe with fantasy/sci fi elements or whatever) transition, passing/clocking dynamics, and potential transphobia chasers &c, would you be interested in a simulationist approach to that kind of experience? like would you play such a game?
The "Spirit of the Camp" demo is up on Itch.io!
Guesstimated reading level: College.
Estimated average reading time at that level: 30 minutes.
Content Notes: allusions to Christianity, outdated cultural terminology, culture clash. See the description on the project page for more.
Known problems: One long paragraph does not scroll into view. Options might not fully appear on small screens. The main menu music may continue into opening lines.
A couple notes for the above post.
The "Camp" demo on my site might not be fully visible on mobile browsers. On test runs, I couldn't figure out a fix for browser bars hiding lines in landscape mode. This shouldn't be a problem on Itch.io.
I keep forgetting to mention this project is a gay comedy, too. Tastes in humor vary. It might help to have previously enjoyed Victorian fiction.
The demo of "Spirit of the Camp" is going up, slowly. It's available on my website. Feedback is welcome.
The Itch.io page will be public when the description, screenshots, page design, and devlog are completely together. No promises when that'll be.

Readability on The Home of Fals Fiction is better than it has been for a while. There are also two newly added pages of microfiction for testing out that claim: "Demonic Garage" and "Sunrise Scales".
Aaand today, I learned about this ebook bundle.
Does my really work in progress need yet another unplanned side image— only so one of the the main characters can be seen without his hat in a single line out a thousand-line story?
Yes, yes, it does.
(He's cute.)
This visual novel design for "Camp" is starting to look good to me. The story lines are flowing better than I had them before, too.
Done yesterday:
- GUI tweaks
- feeling out the GUI color palette
- took reference photos for GUI art
- tried out sound effects
The current sfx isn't working out. I'll replace that in the next day.
Tonight's goal: complete one of the narrative tracks.
Done for my Only One of Any Asset narrative game:
The primary special effect is a changing sky using single-color backgrounds, which looks to me to be allowed.
Today's to-do:
There's a game-making event called Only One of Any Asset Visual Novel Jam (O2A2) I've joined. It began yesterday.
My first day:
Today's to-do:
Just checking.
The corpsetalker is called upon to help new and old friends. With deadly plots, magic, secrets, and maybe kisses— how will the evening end?

I'm going on a following spree. Maybe it's bad timing, but I want a livelier feed that isn't mostly from following hashtags.
My timing coming onto this server feels strange.
There's a queer-themed bundle going out tomorrow for this group. I didn't know about until a few days ago.
There's a queer-themed bundle going out in a few days with a large group of creators from around the internet. That one lasts longer. Two of the contributions are from me.
I'll be boosting both bundles along with any others that were made to help queer creators in June.
Here's my proper new-account #introduction.
I'm a beginning game developer shifting from publishing short stories like in prose-focused ezines. My fiction lean is towards sexy/dark SF/Fantasy romances. Expect oddly queer niches.
The character in the profile image, which I drew for fun a while ago, is temporary. Don't get too attached to it. I have several old accounts, mostly unused or mostly for personal DMs at this time.
Follow here if interested in moody game, story, and asset development.
Hello. This is a quick post as a preliminary intro on this new account.
My email provider seems not to be talking to the Otherworlds Ink server for @shadowfals. I was looking to move away from there, but it seems I won't be able to automatically transfer follows until or unless I can reach the site owner there.
The new profile image is to help with identifying the different accounts. I have several old ones, mostly unused at this time.
On here, I'll be focusing on game and asset development.
