It wasn't enough that humans did something so difficult as learning to play a musical instrument. Then they had to do it in groups. While walking around. In complicated patterns. And then they competed with one another to do it even better. Excellence, this kind of excellence could never have any sane economic justification. It had to be done for the honor of one's country, or one's people, or the glory of God. For the joy of being human.

Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way. - Martin Luther King Jr., civil-rights leader (15 Jan 1929-1968)

When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set. - Lin Yutang, writer and translator (10 Oct 1895-1976)

Oracle, how can I live forever?
Be difficult to forget.
How?
Should I create art?
Should I be famous?
Or powerful?
You should be kind.

So goodbye Twitterverse node
Where the dregs of society howl
You can’t plant me in your outhouse
I’m going back with my towel
Back to the Fediverse civil discourse
Chatting with Mastodon John
Oh I’ve finally decided the future lies
Beyond the Twitterverse node

Never fear big long words.
Big long words name little things.
All big things have little names.
Such as life and death, peace and war.
Or dawn, day, night, hope, love, home.
Learn to use little words in a big way.
It is hard to do,
But they say what you mean.
When you don't know what you mean, use big words.
That often fools little people.

ARTHUR KUDNER

No man is an island, entire of it self; every man is a piece of the Continent; if a Clod be washed away by the Sea, Europe is the less; any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee. - John Donne, 1624
