I have no more capacity for sadness. All that’s left is rage.

So many posts more outraged by the thought of a State sanctioned murder being televised that outraged by the murder itself.

Why the fuck do you tech fucks insist that any and all responsibility for privacy has to be foisted on the people wanting the fucking privacy‽

Jesus fuck you shills. Me needing to constantly be watching for fuckers diddling their Apple Watch and listening for a "distinctive chime" is not "respecting my privacy".

This is a constant thread in recent Apple "privacy" issues. Apple can babble on at length about how much they're doing to "protect privacy" but they show utter contempt at the thought that *non-Apple-users* might like our privacy respected as well.

Jesus Christ; at this point I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

If nothing else, the last 2 years have proven that the grudges I’ve held over the last two decades weren’t in vain.

It's just ridiculously depressing how many people I respected and looked up to that I now just…don't. Entirely because of Ai.

Selling your soul to the slop-gatcha ain't "democratizing" shit my guy.

Apple's attitude toward usability by the elderly is borderline criminal. Here's one more tiny example. Some days my mom can barely navigate her iPad, not because of any cognitive issues, but because (if she happens to be more dehydrated than usual) her fingers become unreadable by the capacitive touchscreen.

If "It's me, your own guy" doesn't become a thing we've failed as a society...perhaps as a species.

"He 'died' like he lived, fucking us all over on a technicality"

"Not asking for tech support or browser extensions" .. half the replies are tech support or browser extensions.

On the one hand, GenAI is destroying the planet, is built on a foundation of massive theft and exploitation, and is controlled by corporations that are clearly aligned with fascists. On the other hand, it wrote this python function real fast; so who's to say which side is correct?

I'm increasingly convinced that Alan Dye is some sort of fucking psyop.

Does Cox/Comcast/ATT/etc deserve a cut of every transaction that takes place over their connections? I mean, it's their "core technology" that's enabling it.

Apple's "Core Technology Fee" bullshit is fucking insane, and I'd love to see how the nimrods defending it would react if a different company pulled something like that.

Apple’s LLM just up and assuming all Johns are Gruber is about as on-brand as you could possibly imagine.

One particular weirdness of Mastodon is watching people *constantly* find out that just because a corporation pays lip service to one thing you care about (privacy, FOSS, etc) that they won't find a way to fuck over employees at the first opportunity. Usually a tenth of a second after someone utters the work “union”.

Hey, remember that time Amazon bamboozled the U.S. DOJ into finding that Apple was somehow had a monopoly on fucking books and then went on to consolidate their *actual* monopoly and proceed to enact customer and author unfriendly policies that would make J.P. Morgan blush. Because a lot of my timeline sure as fuck doesn’t.
