Fuck it, we're going straight to 5 private key

Alright, got to vote against two separate anti-trans constitutional measures, a fuckload of other shitty stuff, and for light rail

The DSA voter guide is the most fun so far. Vote for this guy. Do we actually like him? No, and here's the bullshit he's done that's pissed us off. Not mentioned: how bad the people are who we haven't named.

I'm not much of a sticker person and probably won't bother going to get them but the "I Voted" sticker game in Boulder County seems pretty good too.

I was just bullshitting about a friend with what the "next scam" would be (after making a joke about an NFT-variant based entirely on a friend of ours with a T name) and had an actually-reasonably-solid floating datacenter idea.

Like. It's a bad idea. But it's better in dozens of ways compared to orbital data centers, probably still extra-legal-ish, with plenty* of space out in international waters. AI for collision avoidance is probably reasonably mature, they're accessible** for maintenance

soft series pitch

celebrities (hook) want to learn something and so we hook them up with an expert teacher to teach both them and the audience

this is kind of like Ask Hank Anything I guess but I think you'd restrict to 1 topic/episode and maybe a more explicitly scholastic view, like run celebrity through an exercise of the knowledge at like...quiz level to cap off

depending on how the guests engage, maybe run whole series/miniseries following one person

I'm about 50% sure that the October spookygames events that already got planned out are just not even going to happen because nobody's going to give a shit because they're playing WoW.

and like, to some extent this is a "to each their own violation" but these are friends because I joined a gaming group with them and then for months at a time suddenly all they talk about IS THEIR OTHER GAMING GROUPS

i would like to play games with my friends that don't require 40 hours a week

fuck, that's even part of why I put DCS down, I got hurt during COVID and stopped having the energy or the memory to fly pretend-warplanes competently

my friends are playing WoW again.

fuck i hate MMOs.

I know SO MANY people who have just fuckin poured all their energy into those fucking things. and they fucking hate them! They talk and you hear about how their guildmates are assholes or whatever. What are they doing? The same thing, a billion times, grinding away to gear up for the next thing to grind away at

they also come and go in EVE which is that plus the ability to lose whatever you were grinding for.

a rewatch of The Batman prompted me to actually watch The Penguin series, which I'd heard was pretty good. A couple episodes in and enjoying it so far. Cristin Milioti, who I already liked (mostly from Black Mirror's USS Callister episodes) has a hell of a lot of presence.

oh I have something else to share

I am on a new project at work now and got assigned a couple of tasks related to standing up our stuff with Unreal Engine as a renderer. And I said "uh, ok, I'll try to figure that out"

Two people have said to me "I heard you had worked on games before? Is that not correct?"

and to each I said "I wrote the dialog for the characters in Hack n Slash, released by Doublefine in 2014"

and they reacted....cryptically

CEN Lively survived its eighth patrol, taking 2 prize frigates, nuking another, and scuttling two gunboats and a corvette. Fleet command was pleased with me and promoted me out of the Corvette game.

Over the course of my patrols I was awarded the Colonial Star, Silver Cluster, and Hero of the Colonial Navy. Also my ship's surgeon got promoted away at one point.

Apparently post-war I got my proper desk and a full Admiral post, which I'm sure I abused.

About to go live in Deck & Conn for CEN Lively patrol 8. We're not dead yet

Just an average patrol I guess. No big.

(this game is fun i like it)

I don't announce much these days, but streaming Deck & Conn for probably the next couple hours. twitch.tv/chateauerin

getting onboarded on a new project with a new computer and once again wondering: WHO ARE THE CHAT SUGGESTIONS IN TEAMS FOR

I do not want to sound like a robot! I do not exist to send a canned "Thanks!"

@aeva you were doing a bunch of SDF stuff a while ago, right? https://youtu.be/iCSrsX4camM

had a look through some of my old drawings of bears and some still make me laugh

time to crawl through my mentions to see if i can find an old conversation that could use a ping with some recent news

Vaguely aware that there's exactly one dating service not owned by Match group and I don't think Her is the one. I just heard about it (not even in a particularly positive light) and decided to try it and at least I'm having (with great difficulty!!) some conversations I wouldn't get to have otherwise
