Our chair @sbamueller went to the #plugin conference of Bundesverband #Steckersolar and gave presentation about the upcycling old solar panels to new #pluginsolar systems.

What do we need?
- used solar panels that are not to far away
- new microinverters
- solar multimeters to measure the panels

keep in mind as long as the panels look good they will still supply about 90% of the original capacity.

- instructors who tells people what to do

- tools: such as crimping tools, cable strippers, cable cutters and of course the right MC4 compatible connectors.

Ein Tipp: wenn die Fenster nicht abzudunkeln sind: Rettungsfolie/Rettungsdecke passend zuschneiden und mit der silbernen Seite nach außen auf der Außenseite der Fenster anbringen. Die Gold/Silber Folie reflektiert bis zu 99 % der Wärmestrahlung.
Durch die Folie selbst kann man noch nach draußen schauen.

oh and if like me, you're getting ready for a heatwave, check your medicine bottles! My probiotics bottle has some confusing drawing on the side which i think means it wants to be in the fridge if the roomtemperature is above 25 celsius. Last heatwave i didn't, and my pills were yellow instead of white after that. So aks your meds if they want to be in the fridge today, and probably don't take any pills that are suddenly a different color than usual.

@schratze i put a contact mic on a fridge one time, amplified it by a guitar amp and invited people to drop by, called it a DRONE event.

Looking for #Electrical advice/recommendations for our #OffGrid #Solar setup.

We have a Homeline Load Center panel in our bathhouse. The electric water heater is on a 2-pole breaker for 240V/50A total. I believe these use Schneider square D standard breakers.

We need to have the water heater be a wi-fi app controlled device, ideally. We've been manually turning the water heater on and off for years. This leads to mistakes like last night, when we forgot to kill the breaker before sunset, and someone took a bath, resulting in the water heater kicking on and crashing the solar system after about 40 minutes. It causes a camp-wide blackout from low battery voltage disconnect. Then we had to run the generator for an hour to get the batteries back up to enough charge to last the rest of the night.

From what I understand, schneider doesn't make wifi breakers. But they do make wifi relays that plug in like a breaker into the panel. then there's an energy monitor that goes in the panel to provide the wifi control. So the breaker output goes to the relay, and the relay output powers the heater.

So... Do we

a. go with the schneider smart relays in the existing panel

b. just wire an external timer between the existing breaker and water heater.

c. ditch the homeline panel and get something like the leviton that allows for wifi enabled breakers.

note: we do not want cloud connectivity. just old fashioned local wifi control.

Four Palestine Action activists have been sentenced not on the basis of the convictions for criminal damage (through a jury trial) but on the basis their crime *really* was terrorism (a subsequent decision by the presiding judge).

This not only violates the sanctity of jury trials (the jury was not informed of this possibility), it also is a retrospective legal decision, essentially violating the Rule of Law.

Its a direct attack on civil liberties!
