`gdown` is cool. I block JS on all sites, and when someone shares a google doc and actually want to read it – while simultaneously hating google so f’n much I won’t let their web properties run JS on my machine – previously I was stuck.

I’ve been trying this out for a month of two - I bungled my way into starting the LAB (save the starch water from washing white rice, ferment at room temp until it looks scraggly, add some milk, then feed w/ molasses?)

Here’s a snapshot - I made a lil leather folio case that has one of the supplied adhesive backed MagSafe rings stuck to it and fits like a glove. I have screen protector phobia so I’m hoping using the cover keeps it bundled up and safe.

Though in the past week it’s been wiping my settings each time I sleep the device… I never upgraded the SD card and did know before I purchased that doing so was recommended because the supplied card was rumored to be garbage. So that’s hopefully what’s happening.

I’ll only add that I don’t believe that crosspoint wastes battery on WiFi - my impression is it only connects to WiFi when you’re in the settings asking to do something on the network?

I’ve loaded books from calibre via OPDS rather than dumping them all onto the SD card at once, and each time it remembers the network creds, but indicates it’s connecting for a few seconds before a download starts. Ditto “check for updates”. I’ve read 2-3 books and still have 50%+ battery. Months later!!!
