For those who wonder "Why do we need to normalize introducing people with pronouns? Can't we just… *tell*?":

I just met someone with broad shoulders, hairy arms and legs, and a mustache and beard. But she had long hair and some lovely golden hoop earrings, and was introduced as "she".

If I'd made an assumption, I'd have guessed quite wrong. Introducing her as "This is B, and she's someone I know from…. (etc.)" saved both of us from any awkwardness.

Normalize #pronouns.

Got home from my trip to Denmark last night. Went to bed before midnight.

Got kind of shitty sleep.

Honestly, everything since leaving the wedding site has felt kind of like con crash.

Anyway, I can't spend the morning moping. I should really restart my job-hunt. And find other productive things to do.

The random factors did in fact align; I got to spend roughly an hour in Freetown Christiania, and it was absolutely wonderful! I'm so glad I put in the effort to make that happen, and I even found a couple of things to remember it by (fridge magnet and a few earrings). Plus tried the local beer. I rarely drink beer, but a hot, sunny day is the one time I sometimes do, and I'm glad to have sampled a local product.

Now on the train to Nyborg, wishing my power adapter didn't suck.

Woke up earlier than I'd expected or even dared to hope. Am now checked out of my hotel, having breakfast and cappuccino at a lovely little café in Vesterbro, and *if* all the random factors align🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻, I might even be able to stop by Freetown Christiania for a little bit before I have to catch a train to Nyborg.

If they don't, I can probably at least stroll along Strøget for a little while or something.

#WritingPride day 2: Do you have any queer antagonists?

Again, since I have 5 antagonists, and my WIP is set in modern-day San Francisco, it'd be weird if they were all straight. (When taken along with my majority-queer protag group, it could even be seen as a statement.)

One of my villains is a gay man, and another is a very closeted bisexual man. No queer female or enby villains; it just didn't work out that way.

Absolutely! Given that my WIP is set in San Francisco in the present day (well, 2 years ago), and I have an ensemble team of 5 protags, it'd be kind of weird, not to say borderline queerphobic or at least queer-erasing, if I didn't have at least 1 of the 5 be queer.

But as it is, I've got a gay man, a bi woman, and a bi enby. So I'm pretty well covered there.

I wrote how there were all these things I really should be doing, and then did I do any of them? No. Did I fall down a pointless YouTube rabbit hole? Yes. Ugh, WTF is wrong with me?

Although at least I did job-hunt earlier today, so I guess I'm doing better than yesterday.

I only just found out about the #WritingPride hashtag, so I may be about to post a bunch, catching up.

Or I might not get to it for a few hours, or maybe even until tomorrow, because there are a few other things I really should be doing.

(Also, is there a prompt for today?)

Anyway, other folks in the #WritingCommunity might be interested, especially the ones who are #queer or #LGBTQ+.

I've been having real problems with focus and executive function the past couple of days. Not just unpleasant tasks like job-hunting, but also things I wanna do, like writing. Just can't seem to scrape together the focus I need.

Hope I'll be in better shape tomorrow. I guess tonight is movie night. (Again.)

A few days ago, I posted a thing on my Dreamwidth about how I'd been getting better at getting up early in the morning. Now I feel like that was just tempting fate, as my bedtime gets later and later.

Ugh.

Yet another "oh shit, I can't believe I forgot that" realization: neither of my animal-loving characters has walked their dog in any of their prior scenes. And at least one of those scenes has a character going straight from work to a date for a few hours... what, just leaving the dog cooped up at home? Uh-oh.

I'm going to have to fix this somehow. There are a few options; this isn't insurmountable. But I have to deal with it, and probably soon.
