FINALLY! I got a spam email, claiming to be from an agency wanting to turn my book into a "cinematic video". They didn't say which book, or where they saw it, because it's a scam, and it was a pretty poor effort.
Still, I feel seen! Even if I don't really care about my book sales. My play sales? YES! Books, not so much.

I'm about to give my kid an old laptop I refreshed with Linux Mint. They want to play games on it. Can we make it work with steam, given that they know NOTHING and I needed a ton of help just to get Linux installed?

I saw something about supermarkets and some corporations trying out "dynamic pricing", where the price of something changes based on their estimation of what you might pay based on their surveillance of you.
So I'm going to announce my trial of "Dynamic payment", where I pay what I think a service is worth, based on my experience. Bad news for Apple TV, for a start. And Amazon Prime owes me money already.

At lunchtime I completed and uploaded an appraisal of a script. Two hours later, I had an email from the author, expressing pleasure with the appraisal and surprise it was not AI generated.
The current crop of LLMs could NOT do the very basic job I do with these scripts. AI is bullshit we neither want nor need and I am so sick of hearing about it.
Ugh.
Monday morning, trying to write a review of someone's work and just can't get a grip on WORDS!
I want to say "This is a great thing! The author has done this thing well!" and I want to use a word that is the opposite of "indictment", like "This is a *complimentary word* of the author's attention to detail".
I think I used to be good at this. You know, wording.

You know, there's hardly a day goes by that it doesn't get more and more embarrassing to be a white male. All those great men I learned about in school were either racists, or paedophiles, or stole their "discoveries" from brighter women or minorities.
