I hadn't realized Tremors was a comedy, a silly funny-horror movie, until last night. :DDD It was fun!

Last night watched Tremors with Alex & Storm & Rockario, and later got to hear a bunch of facts about stoats and weasels and the like from Storm. :dragnheart: Stoats are so fucking cute. I might make a fursona of one.

Got a lot of knitting done last night too! My project is going well. <3

There were at least two crows this morning. :DDD Only one did the yelling. The other watched in silence from a different part of the tree, and then from a lamppost.

No crows last night, but I was out early enough that there were lots of folks outside in their front yards around the place where I see them.

Something is eating the treats. I hope it's the crows! :DDD

I've been a Flu watcher since 2020 or so! I should really talk about it more, though there isn't much to say. It's very simple. Check for the email once a week, click the link, respond to the questions. I almost never get sick so my process is even more simple because I just select "no" twice and submit and that's it.

LoveMakeShare June 4: Share a picture of a tool of your trade. Is there anything special about it?

I've mentioned these before, and KnitPicks isn't the only brand that makes this kind of thing, but it's what I've gone with since they're the first ones I encountered.

With a standard set of circular knitting needles you'd need to buy a set with the right size of needles and length of cable for whatever you're working on. And if you need different sizes at that cable length you buy multiple sets of circulars. I have a few sets of circulars like that. But this is much more adaptable.

I like circulars for non-circular projects as well, they can be good for particularly large or long ones, depending on your length of cable. I made an entire poncho for my roommate with items from this set. And a fairly large project can be fit into your bag too, with circular needles.

LoveMakeShare June 3: Creative and artistic people tend to be driven by something. What is it that drives you to create?

I want to create things. The act of creation brings me joy. So does sharing my creations with others. But I would do the first without the second, I think, because I have done a fair amount of that. But sharing my creations and seeing the reactions of others is quite wonderful too. This is also why I spend some of my creative efforts on commenting on and responsing to others' creations.

LoveMakeShare June 2: Do queer themes, identities, characters, etc. feature in your work? Any that you're particularly proud of?

When it comes to knitting I love working in pride flag colours. So far that's only been rainbow but I would like to make some future projects in other specific pride flag colours.

In my fanfiction the series I write fanfic for features queer characters in a queernormative universe (The Murderbot Diaries). Everyone in the series knows they're queer and grows up in queernormative societies where queerness is normalized and a regular part of life, but the main character manages to be queer within that universe, compared to other characters.

One fanfic I have planned for it will explore a self-discovery theme, the main ace character discovering it is interested in sex with its good friend, and the sex is queer within-universe, and this is an important factor in the character finding this out about itself.

LoveMakeShare June 1: Do you have any fresh creative goals for June? Are you carrying over any from May? Starting or planning to finish a project?

Yes I have my two knitting projects that I didn't finish last month, I hope to finish this month, a pair of socks for my roommate and a colourful cat-ears hat. I'm carrying one of them around with me now so I should remember to work on it.

My main creative goal for June is to work writing into my morning or evening routines. I'm trying for the morning first.

Spacefuture furries. I'm certain they exist. SecUnit doesn't mention them because they're such a normal and accepted thing that it doesn't care about. SecUnits are part cat. You can't convince me otherwise.

LoveMakeShare Day 9: What's something you hope to share this weekend?

I want to finish my two knitting projects, the socks and the hat, and post about them. Then I can give the socks ro my roommate. :3 And I want to share the photos of my knitted items with one of the office admins at my GP's office because she asked about my knitting the last time I was in.

I also would like to get more writing done on my fic and maybe/hopefully finish chapter two and then get my pre-readers to read it and tell me what they think! That's three and a half pages, I'm not sure I'll make that but I'm going to try.

Also all week long I have been squeeing about the new MBD novel with other folks and that's been a lot of fun! I'm very inspired to write a short fic based on something from that book as well and I might just write that instead of working on my longer one, hehehe. We'll see. >:3

Some MBD fandom friends I've been making. I'm reading through a friend's fic as they write it and serving as one of their rubber ducks. And they've been writing so much and so often that I just want to write my own as well. ;u;

LoveMakeShare Day Seven: We've all got a white whale of a project. What's yours?

So there's this other lace rainbow peacock feathers shawl that I started before 2020 and haven't finished yet. I've incorporated a rainbow of seed beads into the construction, but with what I have planned I don't think I have enough purple ones. Possibly not enough dark blue ones either.

I might not be able to find exact copies for the seed beads I have either, not in colours, but I might be able to find some similar in style/look in the colours I need and just buy enough to do those sections.

I've found some places I can do this from but they're all online so I can't see the bead itself before I buy it. I should really try to check if there's any local stores that carry beads, there used to be, and buy them that way.

Anyways I would love to finish this project one day.

LoveMakeShare Day 6: Share a recent book or article that you loved!

Oh this one is so easy. xD The reason I fell behind with these is because I got distracted by the release of the latest Murderbot Diaries book, book 8, a novel, called Platform Decay. I really, really enjoyed it! I don't want to say anything else about it without spoiler warnings but I'm so excited to see other people read this book as well and see what they think about it. :3

If you haven't encountered The Murderbot Diaries yet, they're pretty good! Written by Martha Wells, science fiction though not very hard scifi, largely because the main character doesn't care about knowing how a lot of stuff works. xD I won't explain much about them here but they're pretty funny and the main character is relatable for many. Even if you're not normally into sci-fi you might just enjoy these books, worth checking out! Also if you are ace, aro, and/or agender, the main character is all three. :3

LoveMakeShare Day 5: Have you ever managed to perfectly scope a project that could have easily gotten out of control?

Well, I think I did really well with making a lace rainbow peacock shawl for the Fasten Off Yarn-A-Long 2024, and I did it all in just under the month of the event! I had a lot of fun and it got me back into knitting again after I hadn't done much for a couple/few years.

The event is fun too, I played a number of the games and won some patterns, and went on to use some of those patterns to make future projects! Yeah I was pretty pleased with how that one went. I missed the Yarn-A-Long last year because I was sooooo into Murderbot Diaries fandom, but I might try to join in again this year! Maybe I can make something Murderbot related. :O

Missed a few days! Catching up!

LoveMakeShare Day 4: If you could add any tool to your toolkit today, what would it be?

I'm not sure! If meaning literal tools, maybe a spinning wheel. I've been very interested in spinning. But also I'd love to get back into drawing, and I'd love to do that with digital tools. I have a little old tablet which is great but one of those newer ones with a screen and a pen, wow that would be so cool.

Actually, I think I'd add some decent sound recording equipment. I've been doing read-a-longs with other fans of The Murderbot Diaries lately, and it's been a lot of fun, and I think I'd like to try my hand at making podfics. I'm probably going to do this anyways, with what I can manage to gather together, but having a little soundproofed room sure would be awesome. xD Though I may just use my closet.

Day 3, part 2

I am also starting to work on my final "reflection" for my entire practicum and school of peer support experience. All past reflections have had the room for us to get quite creative with them if we want to. I have mostly tended to write in a non-fiction sense, but I'm tempted to try some creative writing or maybe something with drawing, colours, words, etc.

Day 3: What's on your workbench?

I am nearly finished a pair of socks for one of my roommates, I am nearly finished another colourful cat-ears hat but this time using some yarn I got for my birthday from a friend, and I am working on a MBD fanfiction that is an AU starting at the end of book 4 and will go on to become a series of all the successive books after. Although if book 8 that comes out Tuesday does something major with A Certain Character I'm using in fic 2, well, I'm not changing my plans now. xD

Also I didn't mention these in my first post but I've been keeping spreadsheets of a couple of my hobbies for all of this year, so that by the end of the year I can crunch all my own data to make my own "wrapped" for both hobbies. :3 One is for reading (including fanfiction) and one is for wearing my indie perfumes (that I basically only do at home).

Day Two: Have you ever written or drawn comics? If not, would you want to?

Back in grade school a friend of mine and I were pretty into a few online comics, and she was interested in creating her own loosely based on us and our group of friends. She did make a few, with her as both writer and artist, but I helped with the writing sometimes, especially certain jokes. (I was a "crudely drawn stick figure.")

I haven't really drawn in five + years now, but I do find the idea of sometimes making a silly-funny comic to be interesting. I don't know if I'd do it though. Maybe on make a silly comic day, or something, though I'm unsure what I'd make mine about.

I don't know if I have, like, full blown OCD as a separate diagnosis or not, but understanding these things I do from an OCD lens is proving really useful.

I am going to talk about it with my psychiatrist and therapist, and I'll mention it to my GP as well.
