I got to meet some corgi puppies and I’m still squealing in my heart.

Went to our local July 4th pet parade for the first time this year, and this is a tradition I can get behind with no mixed feelings whatsoever. Adorable.

We have a tiny little view of the nearby butte where they launch a local fireworks show on the fourth. Because it’s dry and covered in desert scrub, they set the butte on fire every year and have crews ready to rush to each one and put it out.

We’ll snuggle our frightened little dog again and watch the spectacle and literal fires from a window.

Was leisure weeding yesterday and a mystery cat appeared and started playing with me, nuzzling me and and swiping at whatever I yanked from the ground.

It stayed for hours and wanted in our house. Eventually we found a Facebook post (tricky not being on Facebook!) from the cat’s worried people who live more than four miles away.

My wife sat with it in a bathroom to limit scratching and dog-scaring, and a grateful person came and picked up the cat and left us with thank you beer and cannabis.

Managed to wreck my VS Code preferences playing around, but Arq had the non-mangled versions. 🚀

I’m close to the 200-mile mark of my butte-hiking adventure!

Made it to the butte this morning to catch the sunrise!

It’s been really nice out and I finally got the doors off the Jeep for the first time. (I needed to find a mirror kit to keep it street legal or I would’ve done it sooner.)

Worth the wait! I’ve also trusted humanity each time I’ve parked and left it and nobody’s messed with it.
