For decades, people have been sold car ownership as a key indicator of their status, and in the case of men, a key marker of their virility. There are car owners whose dads and granddads have been inducted into that bullshit. It runs deep.

The price of ownership and fuelling will have to become extremely painful before they give themself a frontal carbotomy.

It is one of the most perniciously stupid aspects of modernity

Burnham is sending UK troops to Saudi Arabia to back their horrific bombing campaign in Yemen.

The Saudi's have committed horrific war crimes in Yemen, causing a famine and cholera outbreak. The UK shouldn't be backing them under any circumstances.

The SNP is set to welcome the approval of new fossil fuel drilling with open arms.

Swinney is going to back Andy Burnham in playing fast and loose with our climate just to cosy up to fossil fuel billionaires.

We are in a climate emergency; it's about time that both our governments act like it.

RE: https://mastodon.scot/@ScottishGreens/117477467943945977

how difficult is it to understand that there's no profit on an uninhabitable planet?

@ScottishGreens
So Burnham's ruse to delay this decision til after the Holborn and St Pancras by-election paid off, exactly as predicted.

Labour has lost none of its authoritarian neoliberal credentials with the removal of Starmer.

@ScottishGreens dont call gasfields after birds.
Its the scumbag field 4

The money being thrown at oil and gas companies should instead be used to insulate homes and help people swap out their gas boilers for heat pumps.

We can save people money, but not with new fossil fuels.

Let's demand better.

Labour's approval of the Jackdaw gas field won't cut household energy bills or improve energy security.

We need investment in cheap, green renewables to create jobs and cut our bills.

“Anti-black racism and Islamophobia is not taken as seriously as antisemitism within the Labour party, that’s the perception that has come through.”

"The extrillionaire", nazi heir to an apartheid emerald mine, has invented nothing, created nothing, is not particularly intelligent, is of course a buffoon but also a social parasite. Pay less attention except for the purpose of holding the thief to account.

It’s been week since my last donation, and I still need your support to continue my education in Gaza. 💔🎓

Every small donation or share helps me keep going and brings me closer to my dream of becoming a translator. Please stand with me on this journey. ❤️

Update:
Two hours before, Alaa called me, and we talked.
Though we couldn't understand each other's language, she was just crying.
Afterward, I received the following message:

"Please, I need the money now. My mother's health is very critical. They won't perform the surgery unless I pay. It's urgent now. Her condition is dire. I need 650 shekels now. Urgently. I'm crying from grief.

God willing.

Please, I need you.

The specialist told me the surgery can't be performed until I pay and that my mother's life is in danger. He's non-negotiable."

So, I finally decided to send Alaa 650 shekels. I'll sell some of my things.
I'm waiting for just one hour for someone kind to donate.
Please contact me.
This is the last chance.
Please consider helping Alaa (and me).
Thank you.

Please stand by me during these incredibly difficult times. My wife is about to give birth, and I’m struggling to provide for my baby. 🙏 Any donation, no matter how small, or even sharing my story, could help me welcome my child safely and with dignity. 😭🇵🇸🙏

Retrieved these from ye olde post office box today. I feel special and am excited to read and luxuriate in these treasures by @colorblindcowboy . Thank you, Kent! 🧡

For 3 days, I’ve been crying out for help, and my cries are met with silence. My little Hamza is sick, and my husband is an amputee who cannot work. I’m watching my family suffer, feeling helpless and forgotten. 😭 How much longer must I beg before someone hears a mother’s pain? Please, don’t abandon us. Even €1 could make a difference. 🙏💔

:boosts_ok: Please boost these posts about the #FlamingoRevolution and the escalation of state violence in Albania.

Because international attention for Albania is always very short attention span and the people in Albania are in real danger right now.

Boost the toots here, and if you're also on other social media, put the links to YouTube there as well, with hashtag #Protest #Albania #FlamingoRevolution etc.

Help bring the eyes of the EU and international community to this. The Albanian people protested peaceful in the face of police violence for 135 days until finally some young students grew sick of how little being peaceful was rewarded by the government, police, and the international press.

With an escalation of state violence this week, they could really use more eyes on the situation.

"Albanian political analyst and publicist Ben Andoni echoed this view, describing the situation not merely as a standard protest, but as 'a genuine, horizontal revolt'".

Sharing suffering isn't about empathy. It's about taking some kind of action, however small.
