Trump is trying to bring the International Criminal Court to its knees. His latest sanctions could do just that.

The threat is clear: US companies have six months to stop working with the International Criminal Court (ICC). In practice, that means the court won’t be able to pay its staff or communicate by email, and it might cease to exist.

From the arrest warrant issued for Benjamin Netanyahu to the upcoming trial of former Philippine dictator Rodrigo Duterte, the ICC investigates and holds leaders accountable for the world’s worst crimes.

But Europe can still save the ICC. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, can activate a legal shield that would block these US sanctions in Europe. This tool has been used before.

He presents zero evidence — just expects everyone to believe what he just pulled out of thin air.

Niet migratie maar GGZ-achtergrond lijkt voorspeller femicide. Dus als politiek iets tegen femicide wil doen: investeer in goede ggz en bestrijd discriminatie (want discriminatie zorgt ook voor psychische problemen).

No German living through the holocaust, no American living through slavery, no Belgian living through their colonialism, no Brit living through the occupation in India could respond that they were “apolitical” and didn't pick a side in any of these crimes. We wouldn't accept such as answer, it would be shameful.

So why are we tolerating it today? If you say you don't pick a side, “not everything needs to be about Gaza”, do you really think that (in)action would've been accepted at any other point in history about anything else? Of course not. Then why are you doing it now?

De regering wil de belasting voor werkenden verhogen met acht miljard euro. Maar dat valt ook te halen bij de 225.000 rijkste huishoudens met jaarlijks één procent vermogensbelasting. Deze huishoudens beschikken gemiddeld over ruim 3,6 miljoen, exclusief het eigen huis. Niet onbelangrijk in dit verband: de afgelopen jaren groeide het vermogen van deze rijkste huishoudens jaarlijks aan met zo’n 75 miljard euro.
