🧵It's important to have small enclaves like the fediverse where activism can grow & people who give a damn can network.
But the vast majority of humans everywhere are more interested in passive consumption.
They need visual media. Only political leaders can afford the scale necessary to reach them.
Passive visual sites like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook dominate.
Text-oriented social media is not that interesting to most people.
