South Korean worker unions at memory chip makers Samsung and SK Hynix negotiated profit sharing last year given the spike in demand for chips. Around 10% of profits in each case.
A worker earning about $52,400 could receive up to $410,000 in bonuses this year according to Reuters.
The bonuses are so large they are distorting the local economy. A nice win for factory workers.
