Making more progress on music notation rendering. Multiple tied notes with bends/holds/releases gets really complicated for layout when you bend bend and release and all of the combinations thereof. In this case I’m working on guitar tablature. The rules are even tricker there. 🤯

In the forthcoming MacOS 27 (Golden Gate), Apple has fixed some past mistakes when it comes to app icons. They should rescind the prohibition on app icon shapes too. End the squircle jail!

Squircle Jail is the worst design-related thing Apple has ever done to Mac developers, and probably the worst icon-related thing it has ever done, period. Incredibly developer-hostile.

If squircled icons are actually better, then let that design win in the market. That's how we transitioned from the classic Mac OS icon style to the more photorealistic Mac OS X icon style. Developers adopted it because they wanted to, and because users desired it.

Pretty sure I’m done with the rendering part of bends in my sheet music notation rendering engine. Just polished off the complex ones (bend and release, etc). I haven’t started the tablature version of the bends because it is so much more complex, still, one more thing done. ✔️

Holy fuck this review is brutal. Honestly, I love to see it. Haven't heard the album, have never really listened to Muse, but I'm kind of over every piece of so-called criticism being either gushing or milquetoast.

I'm also not for trolling or negativity for its own sake, but this doesn't seem like that. Honestly, I'm more likely to check out this album after a review this scathing. :skellysip:

Use the small/gray helper text sparingly or not at all in your UI... but include a Help button and set its help book anchor property to go the specific page in your included Help Book which has ALL the text your heart desires to have.

Settings windows should be straight to the point. A wall of text is overwhelming to users.
