And, I been having a lot of salads lately—HEAR ME OUT

Sometimes I'll say "let us…" and then just go "lettuce (;" while picturing a bunny chomping down on a nice big juicy head of lettuce.

We've lost 2 members of extended family in the last 2 days. One was 86 and the other was 90. Neither of them were well people, so it wasn't unexpected, but this heatwave finished them both off.

It bugs me when people say, "why would you get air conditioning? You only need it like 2 days a year!"

This is why. Because people die in the heat very, very quickly when they can't cool down. Those few hours of cool air can make all the difference. It's not just a luxury item for posh people; it's a matter of life and death.

Fun fact: neither of those nursing homes had air con anywhere in the building.

The notion of a broken clock being sometimes right is based on a gross misunderstanding of what information is.

A clock that always shows the same time is never right, even in the moments of the day when the time happens to be what it shows, because you don't gain any information about what time it is by looking at the clock.

This reasoning also applies to chatbots. If you can't tell whether what you have been given is useful information unless you alreay know the information, then you haven't been given useful information.
