Changed language; same genocide:
Report: Netanyahu's so called “voluntary migration plan" for Gaza becomes a so-called "free movement plan" - in an effort to stem widespread criticism.
"Creating living conditions that make it impossible for civilians to remain in dignity, subjecting them to pressure until they say they want to leave... is a plan for forced evacuation & displacement”.

They said that technology would remove all of the unnecessary work we have to do.
But now I have 120 different passwords to remember, 40 randomly generated recovery codes, 60 two factor auth codes that get sent to my phone/email every time I want to log in and a robot asking me to prove I'm not a robot.... before I can even start work.
It wasn't meant to be like this.
This week I need to choose hymns for August and September. There are resources to help this for the main service. Not so much for the Second service, and the major resource (only?) for this service, HymnQuest.com, has developed a fault since two months so you can no longer search its index of 51095 hymns by Bible reference. Someone is looking into it.
And finally a positive result. Argos has a version of the Air which fits and works. It was a few pounds more than I thought I was paying before the weekend, but better than about £200 replacing the tablet and internal gubbins that drives it all and holds the card reader in place in the CollecTin More.
wtf sort of verification is this? no fucking way am I going to run whatever is in my buffer that you probably put there. I assume this must be some sort of hijack right?
Edit: yes thank you I know a) not to run it (I didn’t), b) it’s ClickFix, and c) to let the website owners know (I have done this).
I wish Mastodon were better at showing replies so I didn’t have to get the same one a million times
So, of course, both ReformUK & the Tories see Andy Burnham's move to regionalism as an electoral liability, because it won't play well in the South of England & London;
in one objection revealing the problem with UK politics: our political class still thinks the only voters that matter are those in London & the SE, conveniently seeing the rest of the country as a liability.
They may find out that this sort of dismissal of anything North of Watford does not play well at all!

Establishment Democrats and Republicans are enraged by Zohran Mamdani and his one weird trick of using tax dollars to help taxpayers instead of only benefiting corporate lobbyists or hurting minorities & trans people.
I thought I'd found a supplier of the required product, and ordered it. What's just been delivered is the updated incompatible version. It isn't what was advertised and ordered! Grrr. So that's something else to sort out.

This should surprise nobody, but was worth measuring.
The amount of 2026 world cup matches I have watched is zero.
The only thing I have watched after the fact is perhaps 5 mins of highlights of the England games.
Normally I'd be all over it, watching at least 1 or two games a day. But I cannot support anything being hosted in the US.
England's 3 group matches are all being played in the US. So that's out of the question for me.
If any of their knockout matches are played in Mexico or Canada... I'll consider watching them.
"Trump is facing some real danger regarding the suit he filed against the BBC:
–He filed suit over a story they did on the January 6 insurrection, which included parts of the speech he gave on January 6th. Trump claimed that they had spliced two parts of his speech together to make it sound like he had incited the riot. The BBC apologized, but he sued them anyway, for $10 billion dollars.
–Unlike most of the media organizations he sued, the BBC didn’t settle. (It’s not clear whether Trump even realizes it’s not an American media company or that it’s owned by the British government.) They proceeded to the discovery phase and have been demanding all sorts of documents from Trump.
–The BBC is citing Jack Smith’s report suggesting Trump’s speech met the incitement standards and that violence was foreseeable. Many of the documents they are requesting are the same ones Jack Smith requested as Special Prosecutor, documents which led Smith to conclude that Trump met the standards for incitement.
–Trump, meanwhile is refusing to hand over documents, claiming “a fishing expedition,” has offered no proof that he was harmed by the BBC program (which was never shown in the United States, and is seeking to shift the case to a different judge.
–There are reports that some of the documents implicate Trump more deeply in the insurrection than had been known before, and Trump’s lawyers are worried that discovery in Trump’s lawsuit could expose him to a January 6 “trial,” a trial he has managed to avoid until now.
–DefaultyTurtle2: “The Brits being the force behind deposing a tyrant would be very ironic on the US’s 250th birthday year.”"

Well, the solo lite card reader doesn't work at all with the CollecTin. The software won't connect to it let alone it fit the casing. It needs a USB-C but the CollecTin has USBmini.
Obsolete in just 3 years. As a charity we need longer from our spend.
So let's put the suggestion that the UK is a highly taxed country to rest.... those who argue the UK's tax burden is too much and needs to be reduced to promote economic revival, need to reckon with all the countries in the OECD who are taxing more that the UK's share of GDP but have yet to have seemingly descended into economic decline....
Rather we might want to argue that a better funded public sector might actually aid the escape from the UK's economic doldrums.
#ClimateDiary “Above is a fictional weather forecast for August 18, 2050, broadcast by French television in 2014, intended to warn against the disastrous consequences of global warming.
Below is the weather forecast for June 22, 2026.”

This brings out super starkly how #ClimateChange has accelerated so much more quickly than we thought even just 12 years ago.
The UK Prime Minister's mandate comes not from a General Election but from the Parliament it delivers. The Prime Minister is simply the member of the House of Commons who can command the support of enough fellow MPs (basically a majority in some way shape or form) to be able to accept an invitation from the Monarch to form a government.
You may not like the system but it is what it is and it's how the country works. Changing it will require the will of Parliament to do so.

Article after article about Starmer resigning as UK prime minister and why it keeps going wrong for PM's... making out the UK has become ungovernable.
Utter bollocks... utterly failing to grasp the simplicity of the situation.
Stop putting right wing wankers in positions of power. They serve only themselves and the rich wankers who bank roll them and their party.
When politics goes right... you go harder left.
Will Burnham do a better job... he's definitely on the left side of Labour with his views. Will he be able to carry them out.
Here's a few things he needs to do immediately.
1: Electoral reform: ban the first past the post system and move to proportional representation as they have in most European democratic countries.
2: Ban the funding of political parties by individuals and business. Elections funded by the taxpayer and any outside funding or accepting of gifts and donations made criminal.
3: Make it easier to recall and remove politicians who go against the wishes of their constituencies. People before party politics.
4: Reclassify social media companies as publishers and make them liable for the hate, lies and bigotry they allow to be posted on the platforms they own and control.
5: Tax the fucking rich properly. Tax their assets and close loopholes that allow them to debt load... such as spending 20 million on a painting and storing it, and taking out a 20 million tax free loan to live off... later selling the painting for 21 million and only paying tax on the 1 million profit... and doing that multiple times with multiple types of art and possessions. Ban non doms from owning and controlling UK business to avoid paying taxes. make it criminal to use tax havens. Every penny earned in this country is taxed in this country, not shifted around through shell companies to avoid paying them.
6: Bring essential utilities back into public ownership, all profits used to fund and upgrade infrastructure and roll out new technologies.
7: Raise the tax threshold, anyone earning the minimum wage should pay no taxes at all... and whilst we're at it... raise the minimum wage, ban zero hrs contracts and make all 'gig economy workers' employees with all the rights and benefits of being so.
8: Condemn the genocide in Gaza, proclaim Israel a terrorist state, cease all trade with them and sanction every zionist in govt and business until the remove themselves of every square meter of land they have stolen in the last 70yrs.
9: Recognise the state of Palestine and free all political prisoners who have supported a free Palestine and objected to the genocide.
I could keep going... this post is already long enough.
TL:dr do politics that actually help people instead of corposcum and rich wankers.
In this time of political instability and uncertainty, just a note that Larry has now outlasted six prime ministers.
"We survived the 1976 heatwave". Yes we did, in the same way we survived the covid pandemic - some of us survived to say things like that, the people who died aren't here to disagree. The 1976 heatwave was estimated to have caused 20% extra deaths in the UK compared to the same period in 1975.
Also 1976 was fifty years ago, and the heatwave was so unusual people are still talking about it. Today dangerous heat is more of an "every other Thursday" type event.
