In this scenario, humanity delays the development of superintelligence until 2040, makes all AI research public, allows dozens of companies globally to catch up to the frontier, and intentionally enters a regime of mutually assured compute destruction.

Holy fuck, you guys should seek therapy now. "Delays the development of superintelligence". What the flying fuck are you on about, my guy? Delay WHAT? You think there's any intelligence in the statistical lying machine? You call that intelligence? That tells more about you, than the "AI", and it's not a great look, my friend.

Can I propose a Plan B? SEEK THERAPY IMMEDIATELY. Also, stop snorting up the farts of "AI" company CEOs.

I guess this is why I get so frustrated when people leap to “let’s build an app” or “let’s build a platform” (let alone “let’s build a blockchain”). There’s no technology in the School at Hand any more elaborate than a cargo-bike geartrain or a speaker – the technology resides in the way people come together to educate themselves about a matter of concern.

I'm all for safer roads, but where is this going? Will we have mandatory in-house cameras soon to monitor behavior?

Why aren't we investing more in things that also would make traffic safer?
- Why aren't we improving driver ed? (In many US states you can essentially do a multi-choice test and drive once around the block and you get a license.)
- Why aren't we going after dangerous drivers more?
- Why aren't we incentivizing smaller cars?
- Why aren't we building more public transport infrastructure so people don't need cars in the first place (or at least it reduces the need for it)?

One of the biggest challenges in business is getting people to understand that it's not a rule-following or instruction-following competition, but instead a genuine goal of creating a valuable thing that is successful.

The goal is the goal.

I feel like all of the kids shows having a black-and-white representation of humanity as "good guys" and "bad guys" has to have a pretty negative impact on how kids learn about humanity...

Spotify shows it has no idea how music works. It has no sense of how to listen to music. It has no philosophy of music.

It shows this clearly in one decision:

They put a Random toggle on an Album.

And they default it to Random if you had it toggled on.

No, no, no. I never want to listen to an album, a work of art sequenced in a way an artist intentionally worked hard on, in a random order.

And I don't care what users say they want, if you care about music and helping people listen to it, *you should not let them.*

UX is not doing what users ask for, but more efficiently. Great UX has an opinion on how something ought to be done, and most importantly, why, and leads the user to do it right, in a way that will help them achieve their goals better than they knew how to themselves.

Amateurs.
