July is always hard.
The disingenuous rainbows all disappear;
replaced with
comparatively genuine
spangled banners.
After all, they never had

The response to "I'm realizing and coming to grips with some interesting gender feelings," from cis straight RL friends vs. queer/trans RL friends is, just, way wider of a gap than I was expecting.
Queer friends respond with curiosity. They are encouraging of the journey, wherever it may lead, i.e. I don't get the feeling they're invested in the outcome. If I come back in six months and say, "Nope, I've been trying things on and I think I'm definitely cis," I don't expect it would change anything about our relationship. They just think it's cool that someone is journeying to figure a gender-something out.
Cis friends are quiet. They say (almost literally) nothing. Suddenly, they don't know how to relate to me and it's pretty clear they'd prefer me to stop talking about it. The underlying feeling is that this not a safe topic. It's not just uninteresting (which would be okay - no one is obligated to find your life fascinating) but rather...threatening.

Clark was instrumental in a 1993 amendment to the Minnesota Human Rights Act that banned discrimination against LGBTQ Minnesotans in employment, education, housing and more.
In 2013, Clark was the House chief author of successful legislation that made marriage equality the law of the land in Minnesota.

So, my uni women's rowing club decided to restrict membership to cis women only. In response, a new "open" division was created that anyone can compete in.
Lots of women left to join the open division instead, and now the women's club are complaining about losing their best rowers.
Be transphobic, lose support.
That's the conses of your quences, folks.
I had an idea how to make that wavy look you see with stained glass, and I'm over the moon at how it turned out! Gotta update my other faux-glass pieces now. I'm just really happy with how this one turned out all around. Symmetry and stained glass are my cup of tea lately. 😊

Part of my fatigue is the amount of work I, and many other trans people, have done to process our identities, intellectualize and study our existences, support one another and structure community, only for some guys to say “ew gross, no you aren’t” and for that to given the force of law.
If you're cis, please do something nice for a trans person in your life who's struggling after reading this news. Grab them a coffee or tea or pizza, a booster pack, something from their Steam list, send them cute cat or fox or dog or bug photos, write them a poem, just some little thing they may want or need right now.

No, 'wench. You are definitely not firing up the printer today.
Hey cis people! I'm blaming you till this shit gets fixed.
A double whammy of the GOP actively trying to murder us and centrist Dems throwing us under the bus. Y'alls are ~98% of the voting population. When they run out of trans (and brown people) they're coming for you. Dem establishment included. They're in the files along with the GOP, they're complicit, and you enabled all of this.
Being an ally isn't showing up to pride. Being an ally is actively fighting back against what is literally a genocide against trans lives.
16 Go packages were hijacked to deploy a Python infostealer via fake font files and VS Code tasks. Supply-chain attack, not a vulnerability in Go itself, but the packages were real and widely used. Worth auditing your go.sum and checking for unexpected VS Code task files.

Duluth Harborcam had a good view last night:
106° - highest heat index in Hennepin yesterday.
113° - highest heat index in the Twin Cities forecast area yesterday.

Whew.
Made it through yesterday.
Every year I forget it's best to just prep for potential storms/outages.
Housemate and I both packed go-bags, contacted friends to see if we could crash there, and looked up hotels.
Less worried about today. Storms possible tomorrow.
If I didn’t already know that that Rationalism/EA/LessWrong was a Get Rid Of Slimy girlS Club for self-obsessed pseudo-intellectual pricks who outgrew the treehouse, I might be more surprised that their stance on AI is “what if I was so clever I thought of a monster under the bed so scary even I got scared”, rather than “maybe it’s bad that the overall Shannon entropy (i.e. amount of meaning that can be conveyed) of recorded information might be decreasing for the first time since writing was invented”.
