It’s Disability Pride Month and I’m mourning one of our elders…. Alice Wong.

Every year on July 1st she would talk about disabled rage.

She would remind us that it’s ok to be angry at the eugenicist, capitalist, patriarchal system we’re trapped in.

She would encourage us to embrace our disabilities AND our anger.

She would give us permission to be our true selves… to refuse to hide for the comfort of others.

She passed away last November but left an indelible mark on our community.

I want to honour her this month by continuing the tradition she started and inviting all my disabled peers to be proud, unapologetically themselves and angry if that’s what they feel.

Don’t hide.

Don’t smile and say “I’m fine” when you’re in pain.

Don’t settle for being treated as “less than”.

Don’t let the bastards grind you down.

I got the latest install of Ren'Py working.

Tips for the next time:

In a command terminal and the unzipped renpy directory, try "sudo chmod +x ./renpy.sh" to set permissions if it's not taking with the checkbox.

Look a persistent error message carefully and follow the named path. Make sure that file has permission to run as a program.

The permission error isn't going away when I'm installing Ren'Py (v.7) on someone else's Linux computer. This has happened before with v.8, but I can't remember what happened then....

i've been on reandron shots since 2020, however i am likely going to be switching to t gel once i'm due for my next shot, as my hemoglobin and hematocrit levels keep climbing and we've done tests to rule out other causes. i'm mostly just wondering if anyone else has switched to gel from shots (for any reason) and how the experience was?

Other than how how the financial costs are prohibitive for a demographic with high poverty rates, access for insertion might be limited, and medical staff (and government officials) are often dismissive of our health concerns: are there reasons for people on T therapy to not be on IUDs?

I mean, medically, are there health risks not mentioned on the drug summary sites made for the general population? Or is it all the other reasons that excludes the topic outside of, maybe, well-connected city networks?

The Yaoi game jam on Itch.io has started. A part of me wants to use that as an excuse to write a prequel to "Spirit of the Latch" with Ash/Reneau.

Isn't it even better that I'd be working for at least two other jams in the same period? That's not worrisome at all for a project I'd be tempted to believe needs a bunch of new art and research.

I'd be leaning harder to do it anyway if the jam organizers and other participants weren't promoting X-Twitter.

Can we bring moustaches back? I feel like 2026 should be the year of the moustache.

like the queer population, the disabled population is incredibly diverse, both in *what* makes them disabled and *how long* they have been disabled.

these things need to be acknowledged and heard and recognized for the differences they make in how ableism is experienced.

it shapes people's lives and realities differently for someone to grow up disabled and be treated as disabled by an ableist society in childhood.

becoming disabled at later stages in life will make different things stand out to people as they navigate through a change, whether drastic or gradual.

the barriers that make society ableist are innumerable, from small details to major elements of the framework of how we live our lives and perceive our humanity.

it's not just a photogenic person in a wheelchair posing for a stock photo next to someone with Down syndrome and a blind person holding a white cane.

you're not going to learn about disability if you don't listen to a broad range of people with things to teach you.
