Heard the phrase "moral de-skilling" to describe what happens to people who use AI for decision making, and yeah, this sounds exactly right

Current “AI” from my perspective is less like a technological breakthrough—“the genie is out of the bottle”—and more a research fusion reactor: no matter how much energy and money you throw at the thing, nothing changes the fact that it costs more energy than it produces

All that scaling it up accomplishes is waste. LLM true believers are effectively arguing their tech accomplishes free energy when the costs mean it’s effectively the opposite

I have been looking for work in #France for six months and I'm running out of money.

I'm en expert in #AI, and still can't find work. Being an #immigrant, being a #woman, being #trans, and being #old combine to make this by far the hardest job search of my life.

If I can't find #work (full time or freelance) or get funding... I may have to self-deport back into the arms of fascism.

I am _really_ trying to keep my spirits up, but this is really hard.

#GetFediHired question: a lot of Software Engineering applications ask for a link to your GitHub, but what do you do if you have left GitHub for greener pastures? For example, I have moved to Gitea.

I've thought of
- just putting my Gitea link in there, but sometimes the field is validated, or this might be considered "not following directions"
- keeping a nominal GitHub that points people to my Gitea in some clever way?
- give up and just mirror my public repos to GitHub while I'm looking for work

So I was wondering what other people are doing?
