@ivory I’m noticing that posts labeled as “replies” on other apps (e.g. Ice Cubes here) are labeled as proper posts on Ivory, which makes some replies to threads appear in the main profile feed a bit confusingly. Is this intended functionality, or is a setting on my end weird?
When I open the post on Ivory, I also can’t see the original post it’s meant to be replying to.
Is the flagship @bookwyrm instance really slow for anyone else? For a while now it’s been taking a very long time for the web page to load, for searches to register, etc. No other instance seems to be experiencing this, from my end. This happens on multiple devices too.

For those who don't speak Spanish, the terms "mae," "brete," "cabra," "al chile," maybe "fijo," "pedir cacao," "güila," "legal," and "manda huevo" are all deeply Costa Rican terms. I don't have any issues with any of the translations they used.

This is insanely high-quality.
I wanted to play around with its #Spanish translation capabilities and noticed it had Spanish from #costarica specifically. So I gave it as much #tico slang as could make sense and it got it incredibly well.
Obviously, #translation is an art, and I might’ve used slightly different wording, but an anglophone would absolutely get the sentiment from this translation.

It seems that lots of folks on the #Forkiverse are pretty into #vibecoding. While I don’t want to sit here and proselytize, if you find yourself using these tools, I at least urge you to read up on the consequences of their proliferation.
Every line, every token, every “Got it. I changed it so that…” incurs costs. Sometimes they’re financial. Sometimes they’re environmental. Sometimes, like here, they’re social and institutional. Oftentimes, they’re detrimental.

What's interesting here is that "Photoshop era" is ending – according to Yahoo – not because users are turning away. It's because *investors* are.
The "market" for software and services is a side-show. Only the stock market matters.

To anyone living in #Columbus or even just #Ohio in general, the Columbus metropolitan #library now offers subscriptions to the #newyorktimes! This includes the daily #crossword, both the usual one and the #mini, any of the other #games, and, of course, all of their #news articles. I only heard about it from a friend and the only “announcement” I could find was on Facebook, whose video I’ve attached here (maybe #CML will get on Fedi someday? 🤔), so I thought I’d share!
