Northern Highland #Scotland folk: if you live near a beach it could be worth looking for fulgerite tomorrow, patches of sand that have been hit by lightning. If you (very gently, they're fragile!) dig down you may find a branch-like structure where the lightning fused the sand into a kind of glass. Rare, special thing to find.

I wanted to try a folk art style and my ADHD brain thought the best way to do this would be to paint directly on the floor. 😅

I don't hate it though?

My latest sock toy is finally complete: three headed hydra, imagined by 7yo and made by me. He's got six arms and three legs, which was a real pain to construct.

Entirely made from old clothes and scraps! Most of his decorations came from a pair of bejeweled gloves (the fingers are his legs). He has a pipe cleaner skeleton which makes him poseable. This was my first attempt at armature and I learned a lot!

The cloud people now have their own ship, based on 7yo's design. The body is made from an old Hilary Grant scarf that I accidentally felted, but it makes perfect wood grain! I quilted the deck and bottom of the ship to give it a bit more structure, and sewed a bag of rice to the bottom inside to help it stand up. The stuffing is mostly rolled up strips of batting - gives more of a square look than the normal polyfill.
