Oh MAN this is a great idea! I have an on-site scheduled for mid September, I should bring multiple copies and just leave them around the office.

“This footgun has real load-bearing teeth.”
Sorry, I found it amusing in the moment. May delete later.
Former Blossom, Big Bang Theory, and Jeopardy star Mayim Bialik talks about an important topic to her.
A lot of people acting like Trump is a uniquely American problem because of some integral flaw in the character of Americans. Folks sure aren't looking too close to their own right wings, which is how America got where it is now.
There is a general rise in stupid awful fascism around the world, and slagging off Americans as particular idiots isn't going to help you get ready to fight your own fascists. Especially when you realize they might be your neighbors or your kids.
I don’t know why I have such a hard time remembering the phrase “inductive bias.”
Guess I’m just not predisposed to it.
This part of the movie guts me:
Rocky offered Ryland a way to get back home… simply because he could.
The *only* *maybe* good thing about Meta’s announcement of “Meta Compute” is the fact that stocks of the memory cartel plummeted following the announcement over fears that electronics prices might come back down to earth sooner rather than later.
Alaska-sized “maybe”, though.
GenAI is the new
I did not write this article but damn I’m in it.
It’s literally the reason I got into CS: I enjoyed the rough edges.
Supreme Court, 6-3: Children born in the U.S. to undocumented or temporary-visa parents are citizens — the Court strikes down Trump's order ending birthright citizenship — though only 5 Justices hold the Constitution itself guarantees it
That this ruling was not an emphatic 9–0 repudiation is simply astonishing and will be a lasting stain. I am by no means an accelerationist, but there has never been a clearer message that we are well beyond time for Congress to legislate serious and meaningful court reform. This is literally insane.

I have one of the worst, most persistent, most painful post-travel headaches I’ve had in years and this line
‘We like to place ourselves right in the middle of the road so it’s easy for others to run us over. That’s called “comity.”’
made me suddenly BURST out laughing
Seating in the Delta Sky Lounge has truly mastered the art of “looks fancy and comfortable in just the right way so you don’t consciously realize it’s actually very uncomfortable seating”.
“But we must care. For if we do not care, we do not exist. If we do not exist, then there is nothing but blind oblivion. And even oblivion must end someday.”
—Death of Discworld, to Azrael
Over the past week or so I've been nibbling at a new blog post, and it finally went up yesterday: mostly a (mostly non-technical) retrospective on the v1.0 that my team and I released at work two weeks ago, plus a clear-eyed look at what it's taken for me to feel like myself in that context.
I will never, EVER be a #Republican.
But lately I wonder if I can still be a #Democrat.
#Antisemitism is not now, nor was it ever, limited to the left. But whereas it was frequently tolerated on the right, most on the left treated it as wrong, and sidelined any characters who promoted it.
Now, prominent #antisemites feel right at home in the Democratic party. Democrats regularly engage in apologetics for characters like Mamdani, Graham Platner, and others; or worse, find no need to defend them at all.
The far left has fallen for the incoherent #Palestinian narrative hook, line, and sinker, much to the delight of terrorists the world over. Instead of shunning them, Democrats regularly talk about how to find candidates who would be more appealing to voters who are comfortable with the idea of murdering Israeli men, women, and children.
I will not vote for Republicans, and I will not vote for antisemites or antisemite apologists. I hope that leaves me with SOMEBODY to vote for nonetheless.

I believe every single word Ms Wynn-Williams says, and also believe things are probably 100x *worse* at Meta than what she observed.
Had to unfollow someone today because of the **sheer volume** of un-CW’d uspol stuff they were reposting.
Our brains were literally not designed to handle **that much** bad news, y’all.
