We have just received word that this falls outside of #OSHA jurisdiction, and that we must contact the #Oregon Department of #Education regarding this health hazard.
After going on #strike for #Portland #students I knew that change would be gradual and not immediate. However I am beyond disappointed, outraged even, that #PPS has chosen to keep my #school open despite a potential #norovirus outbreak. The only communication that families received regarding this #health #hazard are from some teachers who notified their classroom families. The school and district administrations are silent. Many of us have reported this extreme concern to #OSHA.
Thank you to everyone who showed support and #PATsolidarity with #Portland #teachers as we went on #strike for #students, 95% of us teachers voted to ratify our new contract guaranteeing the end of the strike! #union #UnionStrong #Oregon
#PAT and #PPS have settled on a tentative agreement, and #Portland #students and #teachers will return to #class two hours late, and eleven days have been added to the school calendar to make up for the missed #school days. Today, bargaining #Portland #teachers approved of a deal and the bargaining team for #PPS did too, but when it came down to it THE SCHOOL BOARD VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO REJECT THE PROPOSAL THEIR BARGAINING TEAM RECOMMENDED!
