If we excluded everyone with a Nazi tattoo from serving in elected office, that would only leave us with 99.99% of the population to choose from.
Banks can be duuuumb!
Hey @KiwiBank!
I'm on round 3 of 'my card is worn, please send me a new one. if possible please don't cancel the old one yet.'
Some bank AI clanker is trying to gaslight me that the reason I can't do it myself is I have too many cards linked to an account (I've carefully checked in the App and online, I don't) and that I should use the option for
-select which card
-select action replace
-select reason 'damaged'
which doesn't exist, and hasn't for the entirety of the conversation.
To add insult to injury, they're offering to do it manually, as if I'm the boomer, if I supply them with the card number and an address.
The card number was the first fact supplied in the conversation, and as a security thing, surely they should only send the card to the known, validated address?
I've asked how long it will take, so I can get cash to buy food, (to not die).

The problem as decent human beings see it:
Napier has 450 families on a housing waiting list.
The problem as National see it:
We can't sell social housing.

Thread: In which British politics just took a turn for the absurd:
Feel the burn.
So. If you are not following the Nigel Farage vs. Count Binface showdown in British politics then I recommend you start doing so.
The short version: Nigel Farage, MP and leader of the far-right Reform Party, resigns from his seat to halt investigation into his dodgy finances. Then announces he will stand in the ensuing by-election, essentially because if he wins his (safe) seat again it proves the people don’t care about his finances.
As this is obviously a bullshit stunt, every single other major party refuses to put up a candidate for the by-election.
This means Farage is now running against one other candidate only: Count Binface, a man with a bin on his head.
Clacton-on-Sea now have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever.
@hacks4pancakes Every one of these things is rooted in data surveillance and degradation of the human right to privacy.
In his first 150 days, Mayor Mamdani has:
- closed a $12B deficit
- collected $9M in unpaid fines from Bezos
- recovered $5M in stolen wages for gig workers
- raised minimum wage to $30/hr
- drove violent crime to record lows
- marched for trans rights
I don't ever want to hear an excuse from a single Democrat ever again. Turns out the "radical leftist agenda" is just competent representation.
In case y'all were tired of hearing about popular Fediverse people making bad decisions, just thought I'd let y'all know I bought a 1980's hybrid pinball/videogame tonight
Today I learned that there are only three English cities with an electrical consumption greater than 200 megawatts: London, Manchester and Birmingham. By comparison, the people who want to build AI data centres here, which nobody asked for, want a supply of up to 1 gigawatt (1,000 megawatts) for each one. That’s how skewed this whole nonsense is.
Nearly a Million #Investors Lost a Total of $3.8 Billion on #Trump #Crypto Coin
[while he made $1.6 billion off his scams]
A report from a #cryptocurrency analytics firm details how those who bought the Trump #memecoin have fared, with most retail investors having lost money while sophisticated traders did better.

You know how people say that mushrooms are only the most visible part of a much larger and mostly invisible mycellium network?
This is a metaphor.
Uniforms like this are an indicator that when you look at the fascists wearing them, you're seeing the visible part of a much larger and mostly invisible network of logistics, support and money.
You should not trust people who wear uniforms. But you should certainly not trust those who provided them those uniforms.
Journalists are in the business of choosing words and the #BrokenTimes chooses them terribly. "Windfall" is "unexpected good fortune". The correct word is "corruption".
If you run a peertube instance, you should have gotten an alert to update. Either way, it's time to update - there's a security fix out for a high severity vulnerability. Some operators got hit last time this happened. Don't let that happen to you. Patch your OS while you're at it. And drink some water. And then go for a walk. And call your mom.
Thank you to the like 70 new followers that found me through my Fedi boxing match with one of Activity Pub's authors last night.
A *huge* thank you to the folx who donated over $600 to me in the wake of that shitshow.
And my eternal gratitude to all the folx who make this one of my favorite places, and those who trust me to do my best to make Fedi a safer place for our communities.
You are all so amazing 💖
Thank you.
