In Germany we’re very grateful for the big role of the US in liberating us (my then teenage parents!) from authoritarian rule.
I’m deeply concerned that now the US is sliding toward authoritarian rule, including suppressing science.

Commodore just announced a smart-dump minimalist flip-phone, running SailfishOS. I honestly think they're on the right track with all this less toxic technology stuff. No social media, or browsers (blocked at OS level) and no AI, but supports messaging with WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram and respects your privacy. It's not going to be cheap, but it's actually something I'd be interested in buying.
