Was able to catch some aurora from near Mt. Rainier tonight. What a treat! Could see structures with my eyes but everything came out with long exposure phone shots.

People have been making ASCII-like text art on letterpress for over 300 years, building pictures entirely out of metal type, ornaments, and rule. The practice has often been dismissed as "tasteless", "wasted effort" and "nothing to do with art", which is why I think it's gone largely undocumented. So, I've spent the last 8+ years collecting ~2500 of these works into an archive. Thanks to @adelfaure, who developed the site, it's now online for everyone to browse:

I found a couple of places that do custom #keyboards & have online key[board|pad] design tools, which seems about right. I don’t actually want to become an expert in custom PCB / #keyboard design, PCB fabbing, or managing Shenzhen supply chains – I just want to get this one thing made [2] and am happy [3] to exchange money for goods & services (within reason) to get it done
I’ve already looked at just using a gaming keypad to do the thing but I really want to integrate the keypad into the other thing to get it to where I want it to be…

coming back to this thread, because turns out this problem is worse than i thought.
i compared it to a world with no input sanitization, saying all you can do is try and block specific crafted strings and hope you plugged all the holes.
well turns out, as was just proven mathematically, you can't even hope to plug all the holes because there's an infinite number of them:
