I don't find keeping notes or writing brief comments on the films I watch onerous. I started keeping a diary of my film viewing in 2023 (212: films; 2024: 425 films; 2025: 566 films; 288 so far in 2026; 1491 total).

However I do find "getting post out on a schedule" onerous. I mostly have been drafting the posts some time on Thursday and then doing a final edit just before posting. And the interactions I've had for all my efforts have been slim, leading me to feel the effort is wasted

Now at 52 weeks. Over that time I have watched 546 movies from the years 1921 to 2026, a span of 105 years. The median week has a range of 75 years. Smallest range in a week was 51 years, highest 104. Most common difference in connsecutive years is 15 (18 times).

A weekly average of 10.5 films and median 10 (15 times); about 1.5 per day. Fewest films in a week was 5, highest 17.

"Footrot" is based on a comic strip; the first full length animation out of New Zealand. In that interview with the "Oglaf" creators a few months ago, the comic was cited as an influence

"Visioneers" is a mildly sci-fi dystopia comedy, I feel like "Strawberry Mansion" (2021) treads close, but was better

"Ashes" is an experimental film, almost poetry, by Philip Hoffman mourning the loss of his partner Marian McMahon to cancer

"Lady" is a 17th century tale of a bored titled wife taking up arms to commit highway robbery. Based on a (disputed) historical figure, but with 1980s levels of nudity

"Finders" is a documentary about two men. One had a foot amputated and embalmed, then stored it in a storage locker but didn't pay. The other bought the locker contents at auction. They don't get along

"Malignant" is an evil twin story where the twin is very nasty

"Doomwatch" tells of an environmental group that finds strange goings on an island near a chemical spill, but the conclusion is a let down

"Spotswood" has a business consultant, the sort who tells you how many people to fire, grow sympathy for the workers

"Sugarland", based on real events, is early Spielberg telling the story of a couple trying to kidnap their own kid back from foster-care in Sugar Land, Texas

"Here I Come" is the next 24-hours or so after the first film. Grace, having beaten her in-law satanists, finds out there's a round two with a larger group

"A Gun" is a very early eighties feeling grindhouse film. Jennifer, saved from a rape by a group of vigilantees, joins the group to kill more rapists

"Virus" is mostly English language (in the cut I watched) Japanese film about a leaked biowarefare virus leading to a nuclear exchange. There is a much longer cut for Japanese audiences

"Asphalt" is a German silent film about a traffic cop and a siren of a criminal

"Women" is about gossip, infidelity, divorce, and love, all told with no male cast. Black and white except for a gorgeous six minute Technicolor fashion show

"Countdown" is presented as a news story and behind the scenes with television staff, it tells the story of escalating tensions leading to a nuclear exchange over access to the Strait of Hormuz

We keep the laser printer far away from where people sit because it makes ozone. And we have it on the wifi for easy printing.

Often when it gets a print job everyone is seated and far away from the printer, and I think to myself "Spooky action at distance"
