A delivery person knocked on my door asking if it was (another house number)
My house number is visibly displayed on two locations on my door
He made up some bizarre mental gymnastics to justify the wrong house number, but did not read the *TWO* locations where the actual number is displayed
This has to be correlated with people who can't ring a doorbell.
But anyway, also as a result of bloodwork, blood sugar and lipidogram are again absolutely perfect.
At this point I am convinced that a lot of my family's "genetic" early cardiovascular diseases were basically caused by:
- no exercise
- eating things that are not good for you, and a lot of it
But, most importantly:
- smoking
I might develop cardiovascular disease too, but not now 👍
It's *amazing* how many middle-aged male doctors will just tell women to "exercise more and stress less" even when they're training for a half marathon and doing yoga basically every day, while still experiencing symptoms. Dude, what else can I do?
I got some blood test results back that validate things that I had been complaining about for centuries and my family doctor just said "it is what it is"
I'm finally getting treatment and, while it may take months to see improvement, I'm happy that I'm on the right track

- DJs who play the song, not 30 second clips
- Genres preferred: goth, industrial, post punk, 80s 90s, electronic, dnb, open to rock/indie and pop too. I like to dance.
- I hate hiphop and I might commit crimes against DJs who play Drake
- the more queer the crowd the better

Long time listeners may recall that I taught my mom to play video games and then she bought a PlayStation (because that's what we had 😂). Her favorite game is Journey (the first game I used to teach her to play haha and she's played it multiple times over since), what else should she play??
To the person who suggested putting an emergency mylar blanket over the window (my apologies, can't find you comment anymore), wow that worked well. The indoor temp dropped 4C in 15 minutes, and that was with no direct light aimed at the window. I'm surprised that extent of solar energy was coming through. Nice hack, and one that is easy/cheap to do.
Edited to add: I always thought those blankets are opaque, so expected the effect to be like a blackout curtain. But it turned out they are more like a tinted car window. The amount of light is notably reduced, and the residual light bleeds through with an orange tint. But when there's light outside as backlight, the view across the street is still clear and detailed -- just darker. At night it's effectively opaque. (Though don't make any assumptions re privacy since now the interior is what would be backlit.)
I went to a very bad dance party tonight that was made very bad by the fact that the DJ could not play more than 30 seconds of each song. I love dancing. I love dance parties. And every time I got excited about a song he would immediately change it into another one. He did this all night. To many songs I enjoy and wanted to dance to.
I don’t know if it’s because people don’t dance anymore, but to dance you need the beat of the song, so finding the beat and getting your body to move to the beat takes a few seconds, and if the DJ changes it continuously I simply cannot dance because the beat changes continuously.
It’s incredibly annoying and takes all the joy of dancing away from me, it actually gives me rage.
I absolutely despise DJs who do this and if you are a DJ who do this, or know a Dj who does this, let them know they SUCK, that if someone ever says the dancefloor is dying it’s THEIR FAULT because no one can dance when the music changes every 30 seconds and you can’t enjoy it.
Please stop.

I grew up going to dance parties where DJs thought about music and mixing as a craft, with attention to BPMs, carefully curating playlists, finding different remixes that worked for different occasions and I know that’s a lot to ask
So that’s why the only thing I am asking for is for people to let the songs play until they end, is it so hard????

It’s made of natural rubber so they recommend you let it breathe for some time if the initial smell bothers you - it did, so I’m doing that. I’m familiar with the smell of natural rubber so I know it’s going to go away by tomorrow

What’s with some people that they see a door with a doorbell, but they don’t ring the doorbell, they call your phone instead to let you know they are at the door that has a perfectly functioning doorbell which they refused to ring, and you’re now supposed to pick up the phone, answer it, and go to the door.
Back To The Future was released 41 years ago today.
Five weeks into production, the original Marty, Eric Stoltz, was fired and the role was recast with Michael J. Fox.
Stoltz's intense, method acting approach clashed with the lighthearted, comedic tone director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale wanted. Meanwhile Michael J. Fox's comedic timing was exactly what the filmmakers had envisioned.
Nearly every scene filmed with Stoltz up to that point had to be reshot, making it one of the most expensive casting swaps in Hollywood history.
A while ago I asked for a new #yoga mat recommendation with more cushioning - I have owned a Gaiam for centuries and it's basically a flat surface at this point, so whenever I do any seated pose my tailbone merges with the floor
I got some suggestions and I also wanted to shop Canadian ( #ElbowsUp etc) - I ended up purchasing a B Mat Strong from Halfmoon - it's 6mm, so it's got some extra cushioning, 5lbs and it was a bit over my budget but cushioning + weight is good for me.
They shipped it right away (they're from British Columbia but also present in Ontario) so it should arrive soon enough for me to test it next week. Let's see how it goes!
