i moderated a decent sized subreddit for a few years in addition to other places + mastodon for ... 9 years now I have *seen* some shit and porn is the least of my worries.

most people agree that mastodon.social's moderation is generally lacking, but that's mostly because automated bots, ai slop, and nazis popping up like whack-a-mole. people posting porn is kind of the least concerning part of that.

i haven't been liveposting about my current project in here and i apologize so let me explain what's going on:

this is Linen, the little language that could :)
it's a bit of an icarian pursuit for my "ideal concatenative language", a hybrid GC-free and GC-ful region-based memory management strategy using arena allocators as a primitive, with cooperative multitasking where fibers can be children to other fibers but also exist independent of others, made to be able to work with tight memory/performance constraints (haven't defined what's my minimum yet) but also allow for more lenient constraints where it doesn't matter much

i'm super early in a lot of aspects of the system but a lot of it is not because of not knowing how to do it but rather because of simply not having had the time to pursue it, i think it's a pretty good time to have started working on it because now i get the whole weekend to work at it :3

the one funny thing about the vet visit today was jadzia kept trying to shovel under my partner's ass. like, she was shoving her head under her butt on the bench and pushing with all her 10 lbs of might to get UNDER my partner to hide

breaking it and fixing it and hypothesizing is the best way to learn sometimes 😅
