Did you know that you can extend these ridiculously small front pockets on your jeans by haphazardly attaching some scrap fabric? And that you can do a ridiculously terrible job at it, because nobody will ever see it? (except the fediverse)?

I could barely put half of my hand in there, now I can carry my phone in it.

WHY are pockets on clothes designed for females so insanely small? Make it make sense to me (is it the patriarchy? sexism? whyyy?)...

/edit: btw, the change is invisible from the outside! As long as the pocket is empty, there is no bunching or visible line anywhere. If I put my phone in there, of course you will see that I'm carrying a phone.

Do you ever find yourself in that under-rested state where the only thing that has no energy is your mental filter and everything but your mouth knows you need to stop talking now?

Being on meds is generally a net positive for me, but sleep deprivation hits so differently now.

It's not ruining my life, but it's annoying my loved ones a bit. Any advice to deal with this other than "sleep more" or "buy a ball gag" would be greatly appreciated.

Heck, I was brought up in the 1980s in rural Germany. "Of course" I believed shit (and did) that was, by my own standards of today, sexist as fuck. How would 10 year old me have known any better?

I love how task avoidance actually improves your life sometimes... and just often enough to make you believe you'll reap the similar gains again at some point.

In a bid to avoid sweeping up sawdust from renos in the basement, I spent half my morning learning how to make our robovac function on multiple floors AND wrote a simple set of instructions for my non-techy spouse to follow.

ADHD is having way too many answers to the question, "What are you thinking about?"

I didn't understand that as well as I did until I sat down to write everything on my mental to-do list on paper.

One hour and four pages later, I only stopped because I needed to leave for an appointment.

I do feel a bit lighter now, but holy, I'm not even sure I included more than half of what's on my mind.

I'm increasingly convinced the car I've inherited is cursed.

A deer hit ME on the highway and subsequently died, then a groundhog climbed into my engine the day after I'd replaced the dead battery and chewed through some very important wires, once again preventing me from starting it.

And a tree fell BEHIND it instead of on it, so I had to clear that before I could get a tow...

So yeah, "just be early" turns into exactly that: you're JUST early. You're not prepared for your speech, your lunch isn't packed and you probably stink, because being early happened to the detriment of everything else on your list.

Why not simply start earlier? Why not leave earlier? Because suddenly there's an uncountable volume of 'not now' stretching between me and the next task, which means staring at the clock knowing full well that it will change the moment I look away. And because I know the clock will make a different face the next time I look at it, my working memory is clogged with monitoring instead of planning and I can't focus on the other things I know I should be doing.

I promised my wife I'd shower before we left the house for a big event. Easy, right? The thought that I needed to shower held a first class ticket on my train of thought, so when the time came, I got into the shower, scrubbed like crazy and got out with a few minutes to spare.

Then I realized drying off after the shower also takes time, and so does getting dressed, and so does all the other important stuff I didn't think about or do because I was so focused on making that shower happen...
