Had reason to return to the incredible story about how unbelievably skilled seamstresses, with expertise in sewing bras and girdles, developed and fabricated the spacesuits for the Apollo missions, as documented by Nicholas de Monchaux.

LB: A whole buncha replies from - presumably - FOSS devs who are no doubt great at the coding, but not so much for the app design, bitching that we shouldn't be demanding anything more than we're offered for free.

But look at it from another perspective: the application you're coding shouldn't be seen as just a command line tool if possible. The world of FOSS is huge and wonderful and there's almost certainly someone out there who's able to pitch in to help make a GUI for your command line wizardry.

The point is that if we want more people to use FOSS, FOSS really needs to be far more accessible.

If you can't make a GUI, or find someone who can, or don't want to, then that's fine. But most people will never use your tool.

Listen, if I knit a jumper for myself it’s nobody’s business what size it is, what the texture is like, and the colour.

I am not chasing down people twice my size with an aversion to wool and screaming that they can just stay cold if they don’t like this particular jumper.
