multiple times i have suggested that the Department of Physics where i work should put CO2 monitors in every classroom and network them and make a wee website showing CO2 levels to anyone on building wi-fi. but of course if we set a great precedent and tried to encourage the university to do this throughout campus, that would show up the upper Administration as not caring enough about ventilation quality. and of course we can't spend money on embarrassing the Administration so it never got done.

imagine if i cancelled the remainder of every university class i taught once the CO2 level in the classroom rose to over 1000 ppm, on the basis of that study referred to in the boost. imagine if professors banded together, equipped ourselves with CO2 sensors, and we all cancelled class time spent above 1000 ppm. then we would get better ventilation on campus. and the students would get better learning experiences!!

yes, i'm aware that a few people lie about being disabled in order to game state/airline/etc systems. but i'm also aware that the fraction of people who actually do this is lower than is generally assumed by non-disabled people - that assumption itself is part of ableism and it prevents many people with invisible disabilities from asking for consideration. in sum: it's *not* up to non-disabled people to decide who's disabled and who isn't - doing that is cop shit. and lying is shitty, full stop.

The Presbyterian Church, United States, the largest Presbyterian denomination in the country, has overwhelmingly adopted a resolution recognizing Israel’s war on Gaza as genocide.

The resolution, approved by the church’s General Assembly, also calls for divestment from Palantir Technologies and GE Aerospace due to their ties to the Israeli military and intelligence services.
