Getting emails from that NAS again, timestamped 2008. Warnings, for the first time! I still have no idea where it is or who owns it or what it's doing or why it still has the same config from when I last touched it nearly two decades ago.

I found myself looking for CERN, then looking around the control centre, on Open Street Map. Saw there was a "Standard Model Stone" and ran a few searches for more info. One of them linked to CERN's archive site and the page wasn't loading. I thought to myself "eh it's probably being loaded from a robotic tape drive in the basement, I'll leave the tab for later." I came back later and it had loaded.

Every other Web site I would have just assumed the site is a piece of useless modern jank and given up.

Haven’t heard back from #FairPhone and from what I can find online the support side of fairphone is really slow with some people waiting months to hear back and get it resolved so in my case I’m gonna initiate a return for my shiny #Fairphone5 and hopefully get a refund. That’s the problem I guess with trying to source a phone that is 1 no longer manufactured and 2 not even sold in your region officially anymore. I might try my luck again since I really want one but let’s see how that goes.

This post is about 7 months old, and #HolosSocial went far beyond it since. It now has #E2EE DMs with the Signal protocol, and real identity portability. You can use a custom domain so your identity rests on your own name and keys, and keep your media on your own cloud. Leaving a relay is no longer a migration, you just point your domain elsewhere and keep going. This remains optional, you have time to discover the app and enable things later that will give you full independence on #ActivityPub.

Hadn't heard of "world bicycle day" before, so I took a photo of my bicycle with its pride safety flag after seeing the hashtag here.

I rode my bike 11 miles today, doing two errands which would otherwise have needed a car. (Which would've been an electric car, so it would be less of a problem, also considering it's very sunny and we have solar panels. Still.)
