The clinic I'm currently at works with the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach. This week's focus was "defusion". It is a strategy to detach negative beliefs from our personality. There are strategies to achieve that.

Example: A recurring bad thought might be "I'm worthless and unlovable".

Step 1: Recognize and accept the thought. It's there.
2: Tell yourself: It is just a thought I'm having. It is not "me".
3: Use defusion strategies.
4: See how your thoughts change.
